What We Do

At Terabase Energy, we believe that digitalization and automation will drive the next wave of innovation and cost reduction in large-scale solar. To fully unlock the potential of this opportunity, Terabase is developing an interconnected software and construction automation platform. We work alongside project developers, owners, and engineering & construction firms to support the design, optimization, and construction of huge solar projects around the world. Our team is a blend of solar industry veterans and newbies, thought-leaders, dreamers, software, electrical, and mechanical engineers, coders, product managers, project managers, and sales and marketing professionals. We are based in Northern California, with several other offices in the United States and around the world. If all of this piques your interest, we’d love to hear from you!

Position Overview

As the first-ever Director of Quality, you will establish and lead the company-wide quality function at Terabase Energy. This is a high-impact corporate role responsible for developing and scaling a comprehensive quality management system (QMS) spanning our internal processes, manufacturing operations, supply chain, engineering deliverables, and field deployment practices. You will work cross-functionally with engineering, operations, manufacturing, field services, and supplier teams to ensure consistent quality standards, continuous improvement, and regulatory compliance.

Key Responsibilities

  • Quality Management System: Design, implement, and oversee a scalable, ISO-aligned QMS that supports the full lifecycle of Terabase’s products and services, including hardware, software, and field deployment.
  • Process & Documentation Control: Establish and maintain company-wide standards for process documentation, version control, work instructions, and compliance tracking.
  • Supplier Quality: Develop and lead supplier qualification, onboarding, and audit programs. Monitor supplier performance and ensure corrective actions are implemented as needed.
  • Incoming Material Inspection: Build robust processes for materials receiving and inspection at manufacturing and integration sites.
  • Manufacturing Quality: Partner with manufacturing and operations teams to define in-process checks, quality metrics, and final inspection protocols. Monitor yields, defects, and rework rates to drive improvements.
  • Engineering & Product Quality: Collaborate with hardware and software engineering teams to integrate quality into design reviews, prototyping, and validation testing. Ensure traceability and documentation of product changes.
  • Field Feedback Loop: Support the implementation of tools and processes for capturing and addressing field quality issues, warranty claims, and customer feedback.
  • Training & Culture: Champion a culture of quality across the organization. Develop training programs and best practices that engage teams at all levels.
  • Metrics & Reporting: Define and report on key quality indicators to leadership. Provide regular updates and risk assessments to executive stakeholders.

Required Qualifications

  • 10+ years of experience in quality assurance or quality systems roles, including 5+ years in a leadership capacity.
  • Demonstrated experience setting up or significantly scaling a corporate quality function from the ground up.
  • Deep knowledge of ISO 9001 or similar quality standards; experience leading audits and certifications preferred.
  • Experience with quality in hardware manufacturing, electronics, and/or industrial systems; software quality familiarity a plus.
  • Proven track record implementing quality control in supply chain and manufacturing environments.
  • Strong cross-functional communication skills and experience working with engineering, product, and operations teams.
  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering, manufacturing, quality management, or related discipline; advanced degree or certifications (e.g., CQE, Six Sigma) a plus.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience in renewable energy, especially solar or utility-scale infrastructure.
  • Familiarity with PLM, ERP, and QMS tools (e.g., Arena, NetSuite, MasterControl).
  • Knowledge of regulatory and safety standards relevant to electrical and industrial products.
