SUMMARY:

The Department of Literature and Languages is seeking faculty for a full-time Lecturer position in English composition. This is a non-tenure-track position that will begin in Fall 2025. The selected candidate will teach five courses, chiefly in lower-level composition, each semester. The ideal candidate will practice an innovative and student-centered writing pedagogy. Candidates should have experience teaching developmental and other writing courses at post-secondary institutions, including experience teaching in face-to-face, hybrid/blended, and online modalities; working with multilingual learners. Faculty at East Texas A&M University are required to work cooperatively with others, and contribute service to their discipline, the university, and the community.

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Teach undergraduate-level English courses;
• Work closely with program and departmental administration;
• Advise students;
• Prepare syllabi; 
• Update course materials; 
• Participate in curriculum development and assessment;
• Deliver instruction both online and on any of the university campuses. Instructional duties may include teaching during the day, in the evening, or on Saturday.
• Work  collaboratively with faculty and staff to implement departmental programs;
• Provide service to the department, college, university and public schools, and community; and
• Maintain knowledge and stay abreast of current trends in learning with research, best practices in teaching, and technological applications in the classroom, including online teaching.
• Other duties as assigned.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:

• Education: Master’s degree in Rhetoric and Composition, Writing Studies, English, or a closely-related field.
• Experience / Knowledge / Skills: Demonstrate experience of successful teaching in lower-level and upper-level English composition courses at the college level.
• Ability to: Multi-task and work well as part of a team.

PREFERRED EDUCATION / SKILLS/ EXPERIENCE:

PhD in in Rhetoric and Composition, Writing Studies, English, or a closely-related field.
