Director, Operations Process & Efficiency

The Director, Operations Process & Efficiency is responsible for developing, implementing, and leading the organization's quality assurance and operational efficiency strategies. This leadership role ensures that all products, services, and processes meet or exceed internal standards and regulatory requirements while optimizing performance, productivity, and cost-effectiveness. The role will foster a culture of continuous improvement, customer satisfaction, and operational excellence across the function.

This position may be eligible for the possibility of remote work.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Develop and manage an applicable comprehensive Quality Management System (QMS) aligned with relevant industry standards (e.g., ISO, Six Sigma, FDA, etc.).
  • Establish quality assurance policies, procedures, and metrics to evaluate and improve functional output/service quality.
  • Lead internal and external audits; ensure compliance with regulatory requirements and certifications.
  • Investigate and resolve quality issues, service complaints, and non-conformities.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to embed quality standards into product development, manufacturing, and service delivery processes.
  • Analyze current operations and workflows to identify areas of waste, inefficiency, or redundancy.
  • Lead the implementation of Lean, Six Sigma, or other similar functional continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Develop performance metrics and KPIs to monitor efficiency improvements.
  • Drive process automation and digital transformation initiatives to streamline operations.
  • Promote a culture of innovation, accountability, and results-driven execution.
  • Build, mentor, and lead a high-performing quality and efficiency team.
  • Partner with senior leadership to align quality and efficiency initiatives with organizational goals.
  • Develop and manage budgets for QA and process improvement activities.
  • Prepare and present regular reports on quality and operational performance to executives.

Minimum Education and/or Training:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Quality Management, Operations, or related field (Master’s preferred).

Minimum Experience:

  • 10+ years of progressive experience in quality assurance and/or operational efficiency roles, with at least 5 years in a leadership capacity.
  • Strong knowledge of quality standards and methodologies (e.g., ISO 9001, Six Sigma, Lean, TQM).
  • Experience leading cross-functional teams and managing change in complex environments.
  • Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
  • Strong leadership, communication, and interpersonal abilities.

Special Skills, Knowledge and Abilities:

  • Expertly applies rigorous critical thinking to data and identifies long-term non-obvious patterns/problems.
  • Proposes solutions by synthesizing findings over time or across projects/studies.
  • Suggests and implements improvements to workstreams, processes impacting multiple areas/teams/studies.
  • Trains and guides teams on data analysis techniques and tools, and recommends newer approaches for efficiency and accuracy.

Compensation

In recognition of certain U.S. state and municipal pay transparency laws, St. Jude is including a reasonable estimate of the compensation range for this role. This is an estimate offered in good faith and a specific salary offer takes into account factors that are considered in making compensation decisions including but not limited to skill sets, experience and training, licensure and certifications, and other business and organizational needs. It is not typical for an individual to be hired at or near the top of the salary range and compensation decisions are dependent on the facts and circumstances of each case. A reasonable estimate of the current salary range is $138,320 - $262,080 per year for the role of Director, Operations Process & Efficiency.
