The Medical-Surgical Renal Registered Nurse (RN) specializes in delivering expert care to patients in the medical-surgical unit who are affected by renal conditions. This role blends the broad, fast-paced responsibilities of a med-surg nurse with the specialized knowledge required to care for patients with renal impairments. The Med-Surg Renal RN is responsible for managing patient care from admission through discharge, focusing on both acute and chronic kidney issues. This Registered Nurse is adept at performing detailed assessments, crafting individualized care plans, and executing complex interventions. Strong knowledge of dialysis, fluid and electrolyte imbalances, and pharmacological treatments related to renal health is crucial.
This role of Med-Surg Renal RN requires a compassionate nursing professional capable of working effectively within a multidisciplinary team to improve patient outcomes and experience. Proficiency in utilizing electronic health records and outstanding communication skills is essential for educating patients and families about renal health and treatment plans.
