Skills
- Proven recent experience as a Data Scientist or AI/ML Engineer (last 4 years).
- Proficiency in Python and data tooling (SQL, R as relevant).
- Hands-on experience with ML frameworks such as TensorFlow, PyTorch, scikit-learn.
- Experience building and maintaining data science pipelines and working in cloud environments (Azure/AWS).
- Experience with NLP, computer vision, and generative AI techniques.
- Experience producing visualizations and dashboards (Tableau, Power BI, Kibana).
- Strong communication and briefing skills for technical and non-technical audiences.
- Familiarity with data security, privacy, and NATO or military environments and clearance processes.
Responsibilities
- Design and implement ML/AI solutions, including data processing, model training, evaluation, and improvement.
- Apply data science techniques to new problem sets and diverse datasets; produce reproducible pipelines.
- Develop proofs of concept and subject-matter expertise to support capability development and decision-making.
- Publish, present, and report model outputs adhering to agreed standards and stakeholder requirements.
- Collaborate with data engineers, software engineers, SMEs, and multinational staff across HQ SACT and NATO entities.
- Support outreach and community activities (expert networks, sprints, academia/industry engagement, hackathons).
- Contribute to scientific studies, training materials, and educational delivery related to data and AI.
- Maintain awareness of advances in data science/AI and integrate innovative approaches into programmes.
- Ensure data security, privacy, and compliance with NATO standards when handling sensitive datasets.
Education
- Bachelor’s degree or higher in Data Science, AI, Computer Science, Mathematics, Physics, Software Engineering or related discipline
- OR four years minimum professional experience in Data Science within the last five years (as alternative to degree)
