PCBA Manufacturing Engineer, External (Starshield)
Skills
- PCBA manufacturing experience, including SMT processing and microelectronics packaging
- Experience with supplier quality processes (PPAP, APQP, FAI) and quality systems
- Familiarity with IPC standards, statistical methods (DOE, Six Sigma), and lean concepts
- Ability to perform basic failure analysis (X-ray, cross-sectioning, microscopy)
- Strong written and verbal communication with experience influencing suppliers and cross-functional teams
- Willingness/ability to obtain Top Secret clearance and meet ITAR eligibility
Responsibilities
- Own and manage PCBA processes and products across the Starshield supply chain
- Ensure continuity of supply and infeed assemblies to meet program volume targets
- Collaborate with design engineers to understand piece part and assembly design intent
- Support procurement by assessing supplier processes and quality systems
- Create and flow down supplier technical requirements and implementation plans
- Implement and monitor PPAP and other supplier qualification artifacts to enable rate production
- Develop and approve process controls for critical characteristics and drive product improvements
- Analyze supplier quality and delivery metrics, identify root causes, and drive corrective actions
- Serve as liaison between purchasing, engineering, manufacturing, and suppliers to resolve issues
- Lead supplier improvement projects focused on cycle time, cost reduction, and yield
Education
- Bachelor’s degree in electrical, mechanical, materials, hardware engineering, engineering physics, or related engineering discipline
- Willingness to pursue required security clearance if applicable
- Valid driver’s license
