Reporting to the Assistant Vice President for Student Life Engagement & Operations and in conjunction with the Director of Student Leadership & Activities, the Associate Director of Student Life is a member of the leadership team at Lancaster and oversees campus life, the Health and Wellness Suite, and the Fitness Center. The Associate Director is also an advocate for the development of students, promoting students while enhancing their physical and psychological well-being. This position will work collaboratively with other University leaders to support the retention and engagement of students.Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Collaborate with students, faculty, and staff to create co-curricular activities for students
Create, budget, advertise, manage and execute campus community events, programs, and activities along with support from human resource leaders and the Conference & Events Manager
Supports the Offices of Student Activities and Health & Wellness as needed to coordinate activities at SJU Lancaster.
Assist with assessment of student services, identifying location trends, and providing recommendations to improve the overall student experience at the Lancaster location.
Collaborate and communicate with the student and/or student support team (such as Invisible Safety Net, Behavioral Intervention Team, or other related), other members of the faculty and staff, faculty, and parents/emergency contacts when appropriate for students at SJU Lancaster.
Aid in the annual review, production and distribution of the University Student Handbook.
Oversee the administrative planning and production of the New Student Orientation program at the SJU Lancaster location.
Plan, organize, and direct the operations of the Campus Life Suite and the Health & Wellness Suite to promote student learning and development by focusing on leadership, service, and involvement from a health care professional perspective.
Support university programs, including but not limited to Admitted Student Days, Open houses, and commencement ceremonies.
Oversee the administration of student-initiated programs, publications, clubs, and organizations (including direct supervision of Student Council), special events, and student activities.
As a delegate, serve on University committees representing the Lancaster location and or Division of Student Life.
Assist the office of Student Disability Services with test proctoring when needed.
Act as a Data Security Steward to include:
Responsible for the accuracy, security and integrity of data within the area.
Create and maintain a secure office environment to protect all information resources within your purview.
Establish and enforce sound policies and procedures to manage the information resources assigned to you.
May delegate responsibility to the Data Security Officer in order to assist with the day-to-day management of information.
Serve in compliance with the University's Data Stewardship Policy statement.
The person who holds this position has been classified as a Campus Security Authority under the Jeanne Clery Disclosure of Campus Security Policy and Campus Crime Statistics Act (Clery Act).
Perform other duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications:
Required:
Master’s degree in Student Personnel/Education or related field with relevant experience.
Three or more years experience working in student affairs or related higher education setting.
Experience working with students, development programs, community engagement and service learning, programming activities, and working with student groups in a college or university setting.
Expertise in communications and social media in a college setting.
Must have the ability to design and implement programming.
Must have excellent written and oral communication skills.
Must have strong working assessment skills.
Must be able to train others as well as excellent public speaking abilities.
Must be able to market programs and relate to the public.
Preferred:
Knowledge of organizational and leadership development as well as service learning ethical/professional standards and best practices.
Strong organizational skills and the ability to independently coordinate major learner-centered college events.
Experience with college events; promotion, marketing, outreach, and assessment.
Physical Requirements &/or Unusual Work Hours
This positio may require long periods spent in front of a computer.
Weekend and after-hours work may be required.
