We’re looking for an Engineer at an exciting time - we’ve successfully launched multiple platforms and products, raised over $70m in VC funding, reached profitability, and have a growth trajectory of over 100% YoY.
WHAT YOU WILL BE GETTING INVOLVED IN
As a Senior Engineer on the team, you will report directly to the team lead and collaborate closely with Product and Design teams. Your role will involve shipping high-quality projects, ranging from internal tools aimed at improving performance and efficiency to external, patient-facing tools that enhance user experience and engagement. You will play a critical role in translating complex requirements into technical specifications, ensuring that the solutions delivered are both effective and scalable. By leveraging your technical expertise, you will contribute to the overall product strategy, influence design decisions, and ensure seamless integration across various systems. This collaborative environment will offer you the opportunity to innovate and have a significant impact on both the business and the patients served.
As a scale-up business, you can expect your role to develop over time. Here are some of the types of things you could be getting involved in:
Maintaining and troubleshooting existing web applications
Writing and maintaining reliable code
Identifying and fixing bottlenecks and bugs
Integrating user-facing elements designed by the team
Connecting applications with additional web servers
Maintaining existing APIs
Mentoring engineers
THE TOP 5 THINGS WE WANT YOU TO ACHIEVE IN YOUR FIRST YEAR ARE:
Deliver Robust Features: Successfully design, develop, and launch at least three key features or tools that significantly enhance performance and user experience, demonstrating your ability to apply Ruby on Rails in practical, impactful ways.
Improve System Reliability: Proactively identify and resolve bugs, bottlenecks, and technical debt to enhance the stability and robustness of our applications, ensuring a reliable experience for both internal teams and external users.
Enhance Collaboration: Establish strong working relationships with other engineers, ensuring seamless integration and communication between backend and frontend functionalities, which results in at least two successful product launches.
Mentorship and Development: Actively participate in code reviews and mentoring sessions, helping to upskill junior engineers within the team. Aim to be recognized as a go-to resource for technical guidance and support.
Embed Company Values: Demonstrate a strong alignment with the company's culture and values through active participation in team-building activities and initiatives, contributing to a positive and collaborative workplace atmosphere.
WHAT YOU MIGHT BRING TO THE TABLE:
You don't need to tick all the boxes to apply for this role. Whether it's your first or fifth role, we believe everyone can add value, learn, and grow. However, these might be some of the ways you are currently adding value:
7+ years of Ruby on Rails development
Ability to write clean code.
Proficiency with code versioning tools, including GitHub.
Experience with Hotwire, ReactJS, and Tailwind.
Good understanding of front-end technologies, including HTML5, JavaScript, and CSS.
Other third-party services: AWS, Stripe, Hubspot, Slack, and Boldsign
Familiarity with testing tools.
Familiarity with HIPAA
Organized communication
HOW WE WILL INTERVIEW YOU:
We keep our interview process short and sweet, and we’re a nimble team that can progress quickly. Here are the stages you can expect, but we might switch up the order of each step depending on team availability:
Introductory call/interview with Devin, our Senior Talent Partner. The call is via telephone and will last around 30 minutes.
Should it feel like there is an initial fit for all, we will invite you to a video call with the hiring manager for around 45 minutes. This more structured interview will deep-dive into the role and technical needs.
All of our roles will have a small assessment stage. This might be in person, a take-home assessment, or further video calls. Length varies, but we’re mindful of your time and keep it as simple as possible.
Meet the founders and/or other team members. Again, the meeting length varies depending on the number of people and whether it is in person or via video call.
