Job Title: Senior Scientist, Systems Biology
Location: Cambridge, MA
About the Job
Are you ready to shape the future of medicine? The race is on to speed up drug discovery and development to find answers for patients and their families. Your skills could be critical in helping our teams accelerate progress.
The Systems Biology Cluster, part of the Target, Disease, and Systems Biology function at Sanofi Research, is dedicated to delivering first-in-class medicines to patients. Our approach involves deconstructing disease mechanisms into cellular building blocks to accelerate the Sanofi R&D pipeline through cell-centric analytical approaches.
We seek an exceptional Senior Scientist who demonstrates independence, proactivity, and strong organizational skills. The ideal candidate will possess expertise in developing and benchmarking ML/AI models (either cell-centric and/or multi-modal), as well as strong data science skills, to help build upon our current achievements and secure our future success. Experience leveraging high-content immunoscience-related chemical, genetic, or cytokine screens to train, tune and benchmark such ML/AI models is highly valued.
The successful applicant will have the ability to creatively lead projects, coordinate scientific activities, summarize and present results, and establish their relevance to critical decision points in the drug discovery process. Additionally, there may be opportunities to mentor interns and junior scientists.
We are an innovative global healthcare company with one purpose: to chase the miracles of science to improve people’s lives. We’re also a company where you can flourish and grow your career, with countless opportunities to explore, make connections with people, and stretch the limits of what you thought was possible. Ready to get started?
Main Responsibilities:
Lead the development and application of ML/AI algorithms for virtual cell & disease model, especially geared to predict perturbations and functional synergy.
Build scalable analytical pipelines that integrate multi-modal data such as omics, images, text, prior-knowledge, and real-world evidence.
Collaborate with interdisciplinary and cross-functional teams, including biologists, protein engineers, data scientists, and other stakeholders.
Lead and contribute to high-profile presentations and publications, ensuring effective communication of research findings.
About You
Qualifications:
Proven experience in developing ML/AI models in academia or industry using Python libraries such as PyTorch, TensorFlow, and JAX.
Familiarity with learning from high-content perturbation data, such as transcriptomic or imaging readouts.
Interest in addressing challenges in predicting the potential of combinatorial perturbation for drug discovery leveraging single-cell foundation models and lab-in-the-loop approaches.
Record of innovation and impact, demonstrated through publications and patents.
Strong communication, organizational, interpersonal, and teamwork skills, with a successful history of collaboration across analytical disciplines.
Why Choose Us:
Bring the miracles of science to life alongside a supportive, future-focused team.
Discover endless opportunities to grow your talent and drive your career, whether it’s through a promotion or lateral move, at home or internationally.
