The Role

We’re looking for an Engineering Manager for STS who will help lead engineering across internal products and platforms. You’ll manage a mix of internal engineers and external partners, coordinate resourcing across multiple initiatives, and ensure we can move quickly without losing quality.

You’ll work closely with leadership, consulting teams, and new product owners to translate business needs into clear engineering plans, help prioritize where we invest, and keep delivery on a predictable cadence in a high-change environment.

What You’ll Do

• Team Leadership and Management

  • Manage and coach engineers working across multiple internal STS products and tools.

  • Run effective rituals (standups, sprint planning, retros, incident reviews) across one or more squads.

  • Provide clear expectations, feedback, and growth paths for engineers in a fast-paced setting.

• Resourcing and Portfolio Management

  • Own day-to-day resourcing across internal products, consulting support work, and new product initiatives.

  • Balance near-term delivery needs with longer-term platform and quality investments.

  • Coordinate work across internal team members, contractors, and EOR/nearshore resources.

• Internal Stakeholder Collaboration

  • Partner with consulting teams, product owners, and leadership to understand business priorities and translate them into roadmaps.

  • Help define scope, sequencing, and tradeoffs for new internal tools and products.

  • Communicate status, risks, and dependencies clearly to non-technical stakeholders.

• Execution and Delivery

  • Ensure teams ship high-quality increments on a regular cadence.

  • Work with tech leads and senior ICs to break work into well-shaped, shippable units.

  • Help unblock execution by clarifying requirements, resolving conflicts, or adjusting scope.

• Engineering Practices and Quality

  • Uphold engineering best practices across code review, testing, CI/CD, and observability.

  • Encourage pragmatic use of AI tools to accelerate development, prototyping, and documentation.

  • Identify and drive improvements in how STS builds, tests, and operates internal systems.

What We’re Looking For

• 5+ years of professional software engineering experience, including 2+ years in an engineering management or tech lead role.

• Experience leading teams in a multi-project, high-change environment (for example, internal tools, consulting support, or product studios).

• Demonstrated ability to manage resourcing across multiple workstreams and stakeholders.

• Strong track record of delivering outcomes in partnership with business stakeholders, product, and design.

• Solid understanding of web/SaaS engineering fundamentals: system design, reliability, testing, CI/CD.

• Excellent written and verbal communication; able to bring clarity and focus to ambiguous situations.

• Comfortable operating in a fast-paced, early-stage environment with evolving priorities.
  

Nice to Have

• Experience supporting consulting or services teams with internal tooling and automation.

• Background in B2B SaaS, workflow, or data products.

• Experience working with EOR/nearshore partners and building high-performing distributed teams.

• Prior hands-on experience in our stack (TypeScript/Node/React/Postgres) before moving into management.
