What are some of your tips and tricks on how to use algorithms to your advantage on social media?

The easiest way I've learned to do this is by following the content you want to see, engaging with posts on relevant topics and sharing articles/insights to be able to quickly change the algorithm. As a great example, I'm currently a job seeker, so following these topics and engaging has made it is easy to have my feed reflect these topics.

If there are trends that are within your niche those are the times to jump right into it! Also, the way you present content on different platforms (Say IG vs. Tiktok) is very different, IG has a more polished/business approach while tiktok is about familiarity and relatability.

You have to use trending and niche hashtags. Do what fits your content. Make sure you get on the explore/fyp and do your research. Your analytics will also tell you what works and what doesn’t 😎

Make sure to answer questions with your content, the online world works with search engines. It's easier to boost your content (regardless of the platform) when what you create answers a question directly. Riding viral waves can only take you so far, while being the focal point of answers is a sustainable, cost-effective, and authority-establishing content.

As someone who has been making content on YouTube for quite some time now, my best tip for using algorithms to your advantage is to ensure that "it" knows exactly what your content is and who your desired audience is. Don't make the algorithm guess! While you may occasionally see success by bombarding your tags & descriptions with completely unrelated topics, if the algorithm has no idea who to show your content to, your impressions and engagement will suffer greatly.

Trying a "viral" trend here and there can boost you up a bit. Sticking to your brand and doing what you enjoy is the best way to stand apart. Just like anything it takes time and dedication to create your presence, adhering to a schedule for posts and interacting with people who engage on your posts will help a ton.

I've been working with social media daily for a couple of years now and there's no formula for managing the algorithm to your advantage. The algorithm in any social media platform changes a lot. The best tip I could give you is to learn who your audience is and to test out all different types of content in different formats to see which type works best.

If you can learn the algorithm on each platform you can increase your chance of being seen before your competitors. For example, want Instagram success? Focus on Reels and watch your Impressions skyrocket.
