The Touchstone Grader (Part-Time) position involves evaluating student submissions based on grading rubrics and collaborating with course leads to provide constructive feedback. Key responsibilities include assessing content competency, ensuring adherence to guidelines, and maintaining detailed records.

Responsibilities: Responsibilities include grading student work, providing constructive feedback, checking for plagiarism, and participating in quality calibration efforts.

Skills: Required skills include subject matter competency, time management, strong communication skills, and proficiency in computer applications such as Excel and PowerPoint.

Qualifications: A Bachelor’s degree is required, with a preference for a Master’s degree. Previous teaching experience in Critical Thinking and/or Philosophy is also preferred.

Location: The job is located in the United States, with potential travel required up to 10% of the time.

Compensation: $19 - $29 / Hourly

Graders evaluate submitted student work for content, competency and adherence to the instructions and rubric. Graders are held to efficiency and quality goals.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities:

• Accurately read and measure student performance based against a grading rubric.
• Collaboratively work with the Lead for the course(s) to provide the student with constructive, supportive and concise feedback.
• Complete grading rubrics and leave detailed feedback and comments for the learner.
• Check student submissions for plagiarism and for grammar.
• Provide in-context feedback and scoring using the Sophia-provided rubric.
• Participate in calibration efforts to ensure consistency of quality for our learners.

Work Experience:

• Current or prior HS or Post-secondary teaching experience in the subject matter: Critical Thinking and/or Philosophy disciplines.

Education:

• Bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution is required; Master’s degree is preferred.

• Must be able to travel up to 10% of the time.
• Must be able to lift 25 lbs.
• Typical office setting.
• Mobility within the office including movement from floor to floor.
• Travel via plane, car, and metro may be required to perform this job.
• Must be able to work more than 40 hours per week when business needs warrant.
• Access information using a computer.
• Effectively communicate, both up and down the management chain.

• Strong mental acuity.
• Regular, dependable attendance and punctuality are essential functions of this job.
