Cardio Tech Lead - Cardiovascular Lab (internal to dept)

Overview

Presbyterian is seeking a skilled Cardio Tech Lead to perform electrocardiograms for adult and pediatric patients, PTVP/ICD downloads, Holter monitor and event recorder hook up with teaching instructions given to patients. Performs Pediatric and Adult stress tests. Utilizes MUSE and Epic.

 

Type of Opportunity: Full Time (1.0 FTE/40 hours per week)

Work Schedule: Monday – Friday

 

 

Qualifications

  • 1 year of cardiac medicine experience AND 3 years of experience as a Medical Assistant
  • Maintains current certification in BLS certification
  • Pass Annual Basic Arrhythmia Class
  • Experience in cardiac stress laboratory
  • Knowledge of complex cardiac rhythms and arrhythmias
  • Certified Cardiographic Technician (CCT) preferred
  •  High School Diploma or GED

Responsibilities

  • Assists with new employee orientation as assigned.
  • Collaborate on policies and procedures with the supervisor and manager of the department.
  • Assist with ordering supplies for EKG, Echo and vascular department.
  • Train new employees, providers, and users on Muse NX as assigned.
  • Provide training on all monitors used in the department as needed.
  • Provide training on all pacemaker interrogation units used in the department as assigned.
  • Assist in maintaining equipment, ex: EKG machine, Medtronic, Biotronik, and Abbot.
  • Ensure all repairs and incidents are reported and resolved in a timely manner.
  • Provide shift coverage at both locations when needed.
  • Provide coverage for the supervisor as needed.
  • Mentor and train newly hired cardiology techs.
  • Complete the analysis of stress test data within Merge.
  • Apply independent judgment during the exam of cardiac anatomy, physiology, and principles of cardiac stress testing.
  • Tailor the stress exam based on the type of issues, clinical signs, and symptoms based on different types of dysrhythmias and ensure completion of the exam performed at the direction of the provider.
  • Review patient history to determine the appropriate method of testing.
  • Obtain and document routine vital signs.
  • Ensure patient safety through use of procedure protocols and policies.
  • Operate an ECG machine to record electric activity variations and impulses of the heart.
  • Operate the following systems/machines: Q-Stress equipment, sphygmomanometer, Epic, and Merge application with proficiency.
  • Proficient with computer skills and software programs used for documentation activities and report generation.
  • Edit, process, archive, and order entries for adult and pediatric 12 lead ECGs utilizing the MUSE system and Epic.
  • Respond to ECG orders according to STAT, ASAP, and routine.
  • Alert nurse and or provider for significant abnormalities on the EKG.
  • Enroll and instruct the placement of Holter monitors and event recorders on patients who are leaving the hospital.
  • Maintain all department equipment, clean, organize, keep well-stocked environment, and follow infection control and regulatory standards.
  • Customer Service and Caring Practices: Applies AIDET principles as well as good listening, oral, and interpersonal communication skills to create a supportive, therapeutic environment, and provide responsive, compassionate care in meeting patient requests and needs. Demonstrates CARES Commitments.
  • Teamwork: Participates in an interdisciplinary team to meet patient care and clinic operation needs, working cooperatively with others to accomplish required work in a timely and efficient manner.
  • Other duties as assigned
