2026 Summer Internship - Sector Analyst, Proprietary Research

Point72's Proprietary Research (Market Intelligence) team combines fundamental industry research with data science and engineering to deliver insights for investment professionals. The firm seeks a motivated Sector Analyst intern to develop sector expertise, produce research reports, collaborate with data and product teams, and support investment decision-making during a 10-week onsite program in New York.

Skills

Proficiency in Excel; familiarity with SQL or Python preferred
Strong verbal and written communication skills
Attention to detail and strong project management/organization
Business intuition and ability to structure ambiguous problems
Experience using data analysis in research or quantitative projects (preferred)
High ethical standards and comfort working with Compliance

Responsibilities

Be assigned to and develop subject-matter expertise in a specific sector, tracking key themes and KPIs
Compose clear, concise research reports that synthesize qualitative and quantitative findings for investment professionals
Work directly with investment teams to support the discretionary investment process and answer research needs
Collaborate with Product, Data Sourcing, and Data Science & Engineering to source and operationalize data assets
Use Excel and scripting (SQL/Python) to process and analyze datasets as part of fundamental research
Present findings to stakeholders and incorporate feedback from Investment and Compliance teams

Education

Undergraduate degree or advanced degree with demonstrated academic success
Coursework or projects demonstrating quantitative/data analysis skills preferred
