Job Description: As a Merchandise Assistant, you will play a crucial role in supporting the merchandise management team by assisting with various merchandising tasks. Your attention to detail, organizational skills, and ability to multitask will contribute to the efficient execution of assortment planning, vendor coordination, and inventory management. This role offers an exciting opportunity to learn about the dynamic field of retail merchandising and contribute to our merchandise assortment and success of our team.
Key Responsibilities:
Merchandising & Assortment Planning:
Assist in creating assortment plans and product roadmaps based on guidance from senior team members.
Collaborate with merchant team members to ensure accurate and timely execution of assortment strategies.
Manage and organize merchandise-related documents, ensuring they are easily accessible and accurate.
Vendor Management:
Collaborate with vendors to gather product details, pricing, and promotional information.
Support vendor onboarding and documentation processes.
Assist Merchandise Manager to maintain strong relationships with vendors and suppliers.
Assist Merchandise Manager to Negotiate favorable terms, pricing, and promotional support to achieve optimal buying conditions.
Monitor vendor performance and ensure compliance with agreements.
Market Research and Analysis:
Stay informed about industry trends, competitor activities, and consumer preferences.
Assist Merchants with Analyzing sales data and market insights to make informed recommendations for product assortment adjustments.
Data Management:
Input and maintain product information, pricing, and availability in merchandise systems.
Assist in gathering and organizing sales data, inventory reports, and customer feedback for analysis.
Inventory Management:
Monitor inventory levels and collaborate with inventory analysts to prevent out of stocks and minimize overstock situations.
Assist in monitoring product performance and take timely action to adjust inventory levels as needed
Assist in clearance and markdown processes for slow-moving products.
Cross-Functional Collaboration:
Collaborate with merchandise planners, buyers and merchant merchandise managers to support cohesive merchandise strategies.
Work closely with other departments such as marketing and e-commerce to ensure accurate product listings and promotions.
Reporting:
Assist in generating routine and ad-hoc reports related to inventory, sales, and vendor performance.
Compile data and contribute to presentations for merchandise team meetings.
Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in Business, Merchandising, Supply Chain, or a related field.
Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint).
Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Ability to multitask and manage time effectively.
Interest in retail merchandising and willingness to learn.
Team-oriented attitude and willingness to collaborate with cross-functional teams.
