About the Opportunity

Peoplepath is partnering with a product-led software company in the sales tax and compliance space to support the continued growth of their engineering organization. Our client builds technology that helps online businesses calculate, manage, and submit sales tax across multiple jurisdictions, including states, counties, municipalities, and special tax districts.

As part of this growth, we are seeking an experienced Operations Engineer to help build and maintain the internal tools, automations, and core data integrations that keep the business running efficiently.

Role Overview

This role reports to the Director of Engineering and works closely with Customer Support, Onboarding, Sales, Finance, and Engineering teams. The Operations Engineer will focus on streamlining processes, improving data visibility, and reducing manual work through thoughtful systems design and code, ultimately supporting a strong customer experience.

Key Responsibilities

Internal Tools & Automation

• Design, build, and maintain internal tools that improve team efficiency and data accuracy

• Automate repetitive or error-prone workflows across customer support, onboarding, sales, and finance

• Manage and maintain integrations between systems (e.g., CRM, billing platforms, product data) to ensure reliable data flow

• Lead efforts to triage and troubleshoot customer-related issues in partnership with internal teams

• Support engineering initiatives for the AI Product team

Data & Process Management

• Define, document, and standardize business data processes and data lineage across systems

• Build dashboards, scripts, and data pipelines to improve reporting accuracy and visibility

• Partner with business operations stakeholders to understand pain points and translate them into scalable engineering solutions

Qualifications

• 5+ years of experience in software engineering

• Strong experience with Python, Go, or similar scripting languages

• Experience with Angular, React, or similar frontend frameworks

• Proficiency with APIs, data integrations, and automation frameworks

• Experience with SQL and data modeling

• Comfort working cross-functionally with non-technical stakeholders

• Strong problem-solving and communication skills

• Product- and customer-first mindset

Nice to Have

• Experience with CRM, billing, or customer support platforms

• Experience with low-code or WYSIWYG tools such as Retool

• Exposure to ETL pipelines or data workflow orchestration tools

• Prior experience in a B2B SaaS or operations-heavy product environment

• Experience using AI coding tools (e.g., Claude Code, Cursor, Replit)
