We are seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Research Assistant to support research in the epidemiology and management of cereal crop diseases, with a focus on corn and wheat. This role involves hands-on work in the field and laboratory, supporting disease assessment, sample collection and processing, and data management.

Key Responsibilities:

• Assist in the management of major diseases affecting corn and wheat.
• Conduct disease assessments in field trials.
• Collect and process grain samples for analysis.
• Organize and maintain research data and records.
• Support graduate students, postdoctoral researchers, and research associates in:
  • Establishing and maintaining field and greenhouse experiments.
  • Applying treatments and collecting data.
  • Preparing and processing fungal cultures and inoculum.
• Maintain laboratory cleanliness and ensure proper handling of biological materials.

Minimum Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s degree in Horticulture, Crop Science, Plant Pathology, or a related field.
• Basic understanding of plant disease management and agricultural research practices.
• Ability to work independently and collaboratively in field and lab settings.
• Strong organizational and communication skills.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Experience with fungal culture techniques and inoculum preparation.
• Familiarity with data collection tools and statistical software.
• Previous experience in agricultural fieldwork or plant pathology research.
