Research Engineer / Research Scientist - ChatGPT Agent

About the Team

The Agents research team is the research team behind ChatGPT Agent, Deep Research, and Operator. We are building agents that can not only reason but also act in the real world: doing research, producing artifacts, and executing actions. We use large-scale reinforcement learning to train our most intelligent language models to perform tasks that might take humans upwards of hours to complete.

About the Role

We’re looking for Research Engineers and Research Scientists eager to advance the frontier of agent research. This role might be expected to handle everything from fundamental research, to contributing to a big model training run, to launching the trained model as an agent product.

This role is based in San Francisco, CA. We use a hybrid work model of 3 days in the office per week and offer relocation assistance to new employees.

In this role, you will:

• Own and pursue a research agenda to identify the weakness of the model and improve it

• Build robust evaluations for tracking modeling improvements.

• Design, implement, test, and debug code across our research stack.
