Job Description:

We seek an exceptional and skilled Lead Backend Engineer to work with the Mortgage Technology Platform Team. To succeed, you must enjoy thinking in systems and always learning. You will develop and drive solutions leveraging cloud technologies like AWS and Kubernetes; back-end technologies like OpenAPI, NestJS, BullMQ, Redis, PostgreSQL, Databricks; and blockchain technology (specifically Canton by digitalasset.com). Also, as a part of this role you will be working closely on API integrations with our partners. As a member of our technical staff, you must constantly challenge yourself on which software paradigms are evolving with advances in AI and how you can best leverage AI tools to improve your own practices and the team’s productivity.

Responsibilities:

• Implement new technologies that yield competitive advantages and are aligned with our business goals.

• Drive development from concept to market by combining various technologies and collaborating with a cross-functional team.

• Support the company's infrastructure to ensure optimal performance.

• Monitor system infrastructure to ensure functionality and efficiency.

• Build quality assurance and data protection processes.

• Collaborate with product managers, designers, and other stakeholders to develop strategies and implement new products and features.

• Stay current with the latest technologies to maintain competitiveness and technological leadership in the market.

• Various engineering-related tasks which continue to progress the organization’s mission.

Requirements:

• B.S. in Computer Science or equivalent experience.

• 7+ years of industry experience.

• Track record working with product managers, designers, and frontend engineers to land new features for users.

• Deep experience with distributed systems and patterns.

• Experience designing production data models for a performant and scalable application.

• Experience building and managing cloud-native applications.

• Experience configuring and maintaining CI/CD pipelines and automated testing.

• Written and verbal communication skills, sufficient for success in a remote and largely asynchronous work environment.

• Demonstrated capacity to clearly and concisely communicate about complex technical, architectural, and/or organizational problems and propose thorough iterative solutions.

• Positive and solution-oriented mindset.

Desired Experience:

• Experience with FinTech.

• Strong background in TypeScript + NodeJS.

• Strong background in designing public HTTP APIs.

• Strong background in building identity and access management systems for SaaS.

• Experience with Kubernetes and Terraform.

• Experience working with data lakehouses for data shape exploration and analysis.

• Track record building and scaling backend systems to support growing enterprise services.

• Previous startup experience.
