Job Description

The Program Manager Medical Assistant Program reflects the mission, vision, and values of NM, adheres to the organization’s Code of Ethics and Corporate Compliance Program, and complies with all relevant policies, procedures, guidelines and all other regulatory and accreditation standards.

The Program Manager has the responsibility and accountability for securing and maintaining accreditation for the School. Responsibilities encompass defining course objectives, instructing students in academic coursework, laboratory practice, and clinical application. The position will also be responsible for evaluating student and preceptor experiences and ensuring students are able to achieve competency.  The Program Manager must demonstrate effectiveness in instruction, curriculum design, program planning, evaluation, and counseling. This position facilitates the operational activities related to quality patient care and overall program function.

Responsibilities:

This is a highly visible position that includes daily contact with the interdisciplinary clinical team and community partners. It requires a mature, self-motivated individual who needs minimal supervision. Excellent time management skills will be used daily to meet critical deadlines. Excellent communication, problem solving and critical thinking skills are required to enable this incumbent to collaborate with all levels of NM and NM Academy personnel.

  • Secure and maintain accreditation for the program
  • Responsible for the organization, administration, periodic review, planning, development, and general effectiveness of the program
  • Identify and develop course curriculum, including course objectives and syllabi, and provide education in program specific area
  • Oversee and coordinate clinical rotation of students across various clinics and rotation to other area institutions
  • Develop competency evaluations for students with regard to clinical functions
  • Prepare, update, and maintain program documentation including: student attendance, academic progress, competencies, surveys, reports, and logs detailing teaching activities    
  • Train technical staff on student instruction, supervision, evaluation, and program policies and procedures, maintain technical staff competencies in department procedures
  • Provide feedback to department managers regarding clinical staff performance
  • Establish performance criteria and evaluation methods for didactic coursework and clinical education
  • Develop evaluation tools for assessing program effectiveness and perform systematic ongoing evaluation of outcomes
  • Develop and revise course descriptions and outlines for didactic and clinical courses
  • Develop and revise clinical evaluation instruments and performance requirements
  • Monitor program activities to ensure accomplishment of didactic and clinical objectives
  • Create and sustain student-centered learning environments and services that promote student success, including periodic student advising and academic counseling, as appropriate
  • Consult with the Academy Director, Medical Director, Clinical Instructors, Resource Coordinators, Advisory Committee, and clinical affiliates for relevant program needs and revisions
  • Participate in staff meetings in relevant clinical areas to provide program updates and solicit feedback on student performance and progress 
  • Participate in program informational sessions and student recruitment activities
  • Organize and facilitate annual student selection process for program admission
  • Perform data collection and analysis with regard to programmatic assessment and accreditation activities
  • Assist in budget preparation and monitoring of program expenses
  • Supports the NM mission by exhibiting superior customer service skills to achieve the best patient experience for every patient receiving services through the program

Qualifications

Required:

  • Bachelor’s Degree 
  • Proficiency in curriculum design, program administration, evaluation, instruction, and academic advising
  • Three years documented clinical experience in the professional discipline
  • Two years of documented experience as an instructor in an accredited educational program
  • Holds certification in appropriate program specific allied health area. (i.e., unrestricted state licensefor the state in which the program is located)
  • BLS recognition (CPR)

Preferred:

  • Master's Degree
  • Experience as an educator, preceptor or instructor and a proven strong interest inworkforce development and training
