Position summary


As the Tech Lead, you will define the technical strategy and lead the engineering team in building modern, scalable, open-source solutions. You will coordinate across delivery teams, guide architecture and implementation, and ensure that the system meets business needs, technical standards, and long-term maintainability goals.


What you'll do
  • Work with program, product, engineering, and policy teams to identify high-impact questions and turn them into data-driven analysis
  • Build, evaluate, and deploy predictive models that help forecast trends, improve service delivery, and inform policy decisions
  • Build and maintain data pipelines and models that support analytics and operational reporting
  • Develop data workflows and algorithms for cleaning, transforming, and validating data from multiple sources
  • Design metrics, dashboards, and experiments to measure outcomes and program performance
  • Apply statistical and machine learning methods to analyze complex datasets and inform product and policy design
  • Working closely with subject matter experts to understand data and perform quality control


Required skills
  • Experience with Python for data analysis, modeling, and visualization
  • Strong SQL skills and familiarity with relational databases (e.g., Postgres, MySQL)
  • Hands-on experience developing predictive or statistical models using techniques such as regression, classification, clustering, or time-series forecasting
  • Experience building or maintaining ETL/ELT pipelines and working with messy, real-world datasets
  • Understanding of data validation, model evaluation, and experiment design
  • Ability to translate data findings into actionable recommendations
  • Awareness of privacy, security, and responsible data practices


Desired skills
  • Experience with LLMs and generative AI systems


$113,500 - $127,000 a year

Other requirements

All roles at Nava require the following:

Legal authorization to work in the United States

Ability to meet any other requirements for government contracts for which candidates are hired

Work authorization that doesn’t require visa sponsorship, now or in the future

May be subject to a government background check or security clearance, depending on the contract
