Grants & Foundation Manager (Part-Time)

Move for Hunger is a national nonprofit organization that mobilizes transportation networks to deliver excess food to communities in need. Operating in a remote work environment, Move For Hunger strives to create a culture of diverse, passionate, growth-minded professionals who work collaboratively and creatively to tackle the issues of hunger and food waste in the US. Our team is fun, innovative, goal-oriented, and driven to put more meals on the table for those in need.

Founded in 2009, Move For Hunger has partnered with 1,200+ moving companies nationwide to encourage their customers to donate their food when they move. Over the past few years, we have seen rapid expansion within the relocation and multifamily apartment industries - with over 600,000 apartment units working with us. In addition to rescuing food during move-out, Move for Hunger organizes hundreds of food drives, fundraisers, and corporate employee engagement events. We’ve recently expanded our reach to farmers, distributors, CPG, and logistics companies in an effort to recover even more food donations in bulk. Since its founding, our team of 20+ has delivered more than 60 million pounds of food to those in need - enough to provide more than 50 million meals.

About The Role

Move For Hunger is seeking a Grants & Foundations Manager to join our Development Team on a part-time basis (up to 28 hours per week). This role is responsible for stewarding new and renewing institutional revenue through exceptional relationship management, grant writing, and post-award compliance.

This is a great opportunity for someone who thrives on both strategic development and hands-on execution—from identifying funding opportunities to nurturing funder relationships and delivering high-impact reporting.

Reporting to the Director of Development, this role will manage a portfolio of foundation and government funders and lead all aspects of grants management in alignment with Move For Hunger’s national and regional strategies.

Key Responsibilities

Strategic Relationship Management & Stewardship

  • Serve as the primary relationship manager for all foundation and grant accounts, providing exceptional customer service through proactive, personalized communication.
  • Ensure a minimum of one mid-year touchpoint with every funder, supplemented by regular unscheduled updates, check-ins, and impact-driven engagement.
  • Develop and implement individualized stewardship plans that deepen funder relationships, reinforce mission alignment, and increase renewal and upgrade potential.
  • Track all funder interactions and activities in Salesforce to ensure a clear record of history, impact, and next steps.

Grant Writing, Research, & Calendar Management

  • Research, write, and submit compelling letters of inquiry, grant applications, and impact reports aligned with Move For Hunger’s programmatic goals and funder priorities.
  • Maintain and oversee the institutional fundraising calendar, ensuring timely submission of applications, reports, and touchpoints.
  • Monitor deadlines and coordinate with internal stakeholders to gather data, impact stories, and financials needed to support grant activities.
  • Identify and vet new grant opportunities aligned with Move For Hunger’s mission and growth strategies—especially within priority regions.

Pre- and Post-Award Grant Administration

  • Collaborate with internal teams and leadership to develop and submit accurate, funder-compliant budgets, justifications, and expenditure reports.
  • Coordinate and oversee the submission of narrative and financial reports, amendments, and carryover requests, ensuring full compliance with funder requirements.
  • Contribute to the preparation of documentation and reconciliation required for annual audits.
  • Ensure the integrity and accuracy of grant-related data in Salesforce and other systems.
  • Maintain well-organized records of all funding proposals, reports, and contracts in Salesforce and Asana.
  • Ensure that standard grant attachments are up to date.

You’re a Great Fit If You:

  • Excel at building relationships and fostering trust with institutional partners.
  • Have exceptional writing, editing, and project management skills.
  • Are detail-oriented and thrive on hitting deadlines and exceeding expectations.
  • Understand the nuances of institutional fundraising and grant compliance.
  • Are energized by collaboration and eager to contribute to a growing development team.
  • Can manage multiple priorities while remaining calm, proactive, and solution-focused.

Requirements

Experience & Skills

  • 3-5 years of relevant experience in grant writing, communications, or fundraising, with a proven track record of securing government and private funding.
  • Proven track record of securing and managing multi-year grants from foundations and/or government agencies.
  • Strong knowledge of grant compliance, financial documentation, and reporting.
  • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills.
  • Proficiency with Salesforce (or similar CRM), Microsoft Office Suite, and project management tools.
  • Highly organized, deadline-driven, and comfortable working in a fast-paced, remote environment.

Preferred

  • Background in hunger relief, sustainability, logistics, or community development.
  • Experience with grant management and audit preparation.
  • Familiarity with regional philanthropy and institutional giving trends.
