Job Description

SMSU’s Assistant Professor of Communication Studies is a full-time probationary position.  Responsibilities include teaching courses in Broadcasting/Media as well as other areas of expertise.  In keeping with the philosophical position of the program, this individual would also be responsible for teaching COMM 110 (basic oral communication course) on a regular basis in both an on campus and online format.  In addition, this position will assist in advising the Broadcasting and Digital Media Activities of the program (requires on-campus availability on several evenings and weekends), serve as advisor to the SMSU Media Production club, supervise the Media Creation Lab (part of the University’s Center for Online Learning and Teaching), and assist in the redesign of curriculum as needed to ensure students are well prepared for careers. Based on experience and expertise, this position may also support other areas of the Communication Studies program such as Public Relations and Mass Communication Courses.
