At Meter, we believe enterprise connectivity should feel as effortless as consumer Wi-Fi. Wireless is the last mile of the network, and it defines the customer’s experience — how quickly they get online, how reliable their connection feels, and how confident they are in their infrastructure.
As a Wireless Firmware Engineer, you’ll build high performance, quantifiably-intelligent wireless features that span embedded devices, backend services, and the customer dashboard. You’ll translate complex wireless challenges into seamless, enterprise-ready experiences — making networks smarter, more reliable, and easier to manage.
The impact you’ll drive
Build enterprise-grade security and access features such as scalable NAC solutions all the way from conceptualizing, architecting and shipping these features in Meter products to customers
Develop advanced wireless intelligence features like RF optimization and client localization that enhance reliability and performance.
Contribute across the stack, from embedded access point features to backend services to the dashboard UI that customers use every day.
Deliver features that directly impact the end-user experience and customer trust in their network infrastructure.
What your craft looks like
Design wireless features grounded in a deep understanding of protocols (802.11, authentication mechanisms).
Debug at the packet level while also thinking holistically about how features surface in the customer dashboard.
Work closely with firmware, backend, and frontend engineers to ship full-stack features.
Apply high standards of technical rigor, usability, and performance — ensuring customers experience wireless that “just works.”
What makes you a fit
Strong understanding of networking fundamentals (TCP/IP, L2/L3 networking),wireless protocols (802.11)
Experience building across the stack: embedded devices, backend systems, and customer-facing interfaces.
Comfortable analyzing packet captures and debugging wireless performance.
Proficiency in C/C++ (with Golang or similar backend languages a plus).
Excited to bridge the gap between low-level wireless systems and user-facing product features.
A mindset of curiosity and impact — motivated by turning complex systems into simple, elegant customer experiences.
Why Meter?
The internet runs the world. Every purchase you make, video call you join, it's all packets flowing through networks. But those networks haven’t changed for decades. They’re brittle, complex, and surprisingly hard to set up in an enterprise space.
We started Meter to build better networks. We had to build everything from the ground-up: designing and building our own enterprise hardware, intuitive software, and streamlined operations to deliver great outcomes for our customers. Today, we build and deploy these networks at scale. Ambitious companies and enduring institutions like Bridgewater, Lyft, Reddit, rely on Meter to keep their thousands of employees and locations online and productive.
Our bet with Meter is simple: we will all use the internet more than we do today. We believe we have the definitive networking stack in place to enable business to do so as seamlessly and reliably as any modern utility.
