Software Automation Developer

We have an opening for a full-time, permanent Software Automation Developer to join our talented, dynamic team.    

We are seeking an experienced and innovative Software Automation Developer to join our dynamic cybersecurity team. In this role, you will play a key part in designing, implementing, and maintaining our SOAR platform to enhance our incident response capabilities. The ideal candidate will have a deep understanding of cybersecurity workflows, scripting languages, and automation frameworks.

This position will be 80% remote with 20% onsite in Austin, TX, Hines, IL, or Martinsburg, WV.

Duties

1. SOAR Platform Development:

• Utilize python to design, develop, and maintain automated workflow and scripts within the VA Security Orchestration, Automation, and Response (SOAR) platform (Swimlane) to streamline and automate cybersecurity processes.
• Create reusable automation applications to improve efficiency and response times across the VA CSOC.

2. Integration Expertise:

• Integrate the SOAR platform with various security tools, SIEM solutions, and third-party applications to create a cohesive and automated security ecosystem.
• Collaborate with security and IT teams to identify and implement integration requirements.

3. Incident Response Enhancement:

• Work closely with incident response teams to understand their workflow requirements and implement SOAR solutions that enhance the speed and accuracy of response activities.
• Conduct regular assessments to identify opportunities for continuous improvement.

4. Documentation:

• Document design specifications, implementation details, and maintenance procedures for the SOAR platform.
• Provide comprehensive documentation for playbooks, integrations, and automation workflows.

5. Security Best Practices:

• Ensure the SOAR platform adheres to security best practices, compliance standards, and data protection regulations.
• Implement security controls and measures to safeguard sensitive information.

6. Training and Knowledge Transfer:

• Provide training and knowledge transfer sessions to security operations and incident response teams on utilizing and managing the SOAR platform.
• Foster a culture of self-service and empowerment within the cybersecurity team.

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Cybersecurity, or a related field
• Proven experience as a SOAR Developer, with a focus on designing and implementing security automation solutions
• Strong programming skills in languages such as Python, PowerShell, or JavaScript
• Extensive experience and knowledge in general SOC operations
• Extensive experience with SOAR platforms, including customization, integration, and maintenance
• In-depth knowledge of cybersecurity concepts, incident response procedures, and security toolsets
• Familiarity with industry frameworks and standards such as MITRE ATT&CK
• Excellent problem-solving and communication skills
