Software Engineer

As a Software Engineer, you'll play a key role in developing and maintaining features within the YouVersion Family of Apps - writing clean, scalable code that makes a real impact. You'll take ownership of tasks from concept to deployment, collaborate with a team that values innovation, and help create seamless digital experiences that bring Scripture to life.

What You'll Do

・Own the Process: Take assigned tasks from idea to implementation, ensuring high-quality results.

・Write & Review Code: Develop clean, maintainable code and contribute to peer reviews for best practices.

・Ensure Quality: Build & run tests to keep features reliable and user friendly.

・Debug & Solve Problems: Identify and fix technical issues to keep our apps running smoothly.

・Collaborate & Innovate: Work alongside designers, product managers, and engineers to develop features that matter.

Technical Areas You Excel In

We work across multiple platforms, and while expertise in all areas is not expected, deep mastery in one or more—combined with the ability to provide technical leadership across domains—is highly valued.

API Services

 ・Languages: Experience with Python and/or Golang.

 ・Cloud Integration: Familiarity with cloud technologies for deployment and scaling.

 ・System Architecture: Understanding of performance-focused, scalable system design.

 ・Best Practices: Knowledge of microservices, distributed systems, and CI/CD pipelines.

Android Development

 ・Primary Tools: Proficiency in Dart and Flutter.

 ・Mobile Experience: Hands-on experience developing Android applications.

 ・Quality Focus: Understanding of testing, UX best practices, and Android app optimization.

iOS Development

 ・Languages & Frameworks: Swift, UIKit, and SwiftUI.

 ・Advanced Features: Proficiency in Combine and asynchronous/await.

 ・User Experience: Awareness of Apple's Human Interface Guidelines and modern iOS development practices.

Web Development

・Core Tech: Experience with Next.js, React, and Node.js.

・Languages: Proficiency in TypeScript and JavaScript.

・Performance & Accessibility: Understanding of scalable, responsive web development.

Data

・Querying: Ability to write basic queries in BigQuery to explore and understand data.

・Data Foundations: Understanding of core data concepts such as simple data modeling and data quality.

・Data Tools: Familiarity with data workflows or orchestration tools like Airflow.

What You Bring

・Experience: 1-3 years in software development. A degree in Computer Science or equivalent practical experience is preferred.

・Growth Mindset: Eager to learn new technologies and adapt to different platforms.

・Passion for Impact: Excited about building software that helps people engage with Scripture and grow in faith.
