Staff Embedded Software Engineer
Skills
- Proficient in C and C++ for embedded systems
- Experience with FreeRTOS and/or SafeRTOS on ARM architectures
- Knowledge of Automotive Ethernet and diagnostic/vehicle protocols (UDS, DOIP, SOME/IP)
- Familiarity with ISO26262, SOTIF, and ASPICE or equivalent safety processes
- Experience implementing secure features (secure boot, secure comms, key management)
- Embedded development on multi-core ARM SoCs and low-level bring-up
- Linux-based development experience and related tools (gtest, Python, Bazel, Docker)
- Strong project leadership and cross-functional communication skills
Responsibilities
- Own end-to-end development of embedded software features from concept through delivery
- Design architectures and development plans for cross-platform embedded software
- Implement device drivers and perform first-time hardware bring-up on new targets
- Develop software for FreeRTOS, SafeRTOS and bare-metal environments as well as Linux-based tooling
- Collaborate with cross-functional Latitude and Ford teams to identify and resolve dependencies
- Mentor junior engineers and guide technical direction through deep analysis
- Establish and refine best practices for ASPICE/ISO26262-compliant embedded development
Education
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Engineering, Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, Robotics or related field with 7+ years relevant experience
- OR Master's degree with 5+ years relevant experience
- OR PhD with 2+ years relevant experience
