Position Summary
The Menswear Designer will collaborate with the Senior Men’s Design Director each season to develop, initiate and execute creative direction. This position will work cross-functionally throughout our product creation process from start to finish to partner on our seasonal narrative direction, and brand, product, and innovation storytelling to define our seasonal look, feel, voice, and execution.
Responsibilities
Work on seasonal research, market and trend research, concept building, sketching CADs and building presentations to effectively communicate creative strategy and product concepts
Translate the Kith aesthetic into saleable & relevant designs for the market
Prepare and present concepts via sketches, materials, colors and trims
Properly distribute responsibilities to direct report
Must be comfortable in working on all product categories: wovens, cut/sew knits & sweaters
Responsible for the cohesiveness of assigned product categories
Help execute tasks/projects with critical attention to detail and a sense of urgency to meet all department deadlines.
Must have quick and strong Illustrator sketching skills.
Responsible for creating tech packs with detailed specifications that include construction details, and trim/fabric information
Accurately size graphic and textiles according to designs
Attend fittings and update TP, sketches and BOMs as necessary to changes
Communicate with overseas and internal partners on updates as changes occur in the assortment
Partner with Tech Design for anything fit related in seasonal development
Qualifications
Degree in Apparel or Fashion Design
5-7 years of experience working as designer in the apparel industry
Must be comfortable in working on all product categories: wovens, knits & sweaters
Quick and strong Illustrator sketching skills
Strong knowledge of garment construction & fabrics
Strong understanding of brand’s aesthetic
Ability to set a creative tone and to inspire ideas/new concepts
Strong Knowledge of tech packs, garment construction and specs
Strong knowledge of fabrics
Excellent leadership/ management skills and ability to work collaboratively in a team environment
Good organizational, time management and communication skills
Must be flexible to meet demands of deadlines.
Ability to handle multiple tasks/projects
High Proficiency in Adobe Illustrator and Photoshop
Have a positive and passionate attitude. A willing problem-solver who is determined to work together and find solutions
