You will design, implement, and maintain robust infrastructure and integrations that directly support the delivery of curriculum and student development tools. Accountabilities:

As a Staff Software Engineer, you will be responsible for architecting and developing backend systems while driving technical excellence across teams:

• Partner with Product and Design teams to scope, design, and deliver new features in the Education product line.
• Architect, refine, and scale backend systems, introducing technologies and patterns to strengthen system foundations.
• Own and evolve eCommerce systems and integrations supporting the delivery of educational products.
• Collaborate across functions to ensure technology decisions align with business objectives and customer needs.
• Contribute to technical direction through high-quality code, thoughtful reviews, and best practice advocacy.
• Mentor and guide team members, fostering knowledge sharing and improving team velocity and execution.

Candidates should have a strong technical foundation, experience building scalable systems, and the ability to work in a collaborative, impact-driven environment:

• 5+ years of professional experience developing backend systems, preferably in fast-paced startups or mid-stage companies.
• Expertise in designing and implementing distributed systems for scalability and reliability, with proficiency in languages such as Ruby on Rails, Python, or Go.
• Experience with payment or billing systems like Stripe and building integrations that support operational growth.
• Experience contributing to or leading migration and architectural evolution efforts while maintaining ongoing product delivery.
• Strong collaboration skills, working cross-functionally from concept to launch.
• Experience mentoring other engineers and establishing engineering best practices.
• Bonus: experience with microservices/service-oriented architectures and full-stack development using React.js.
