Sr. Engineer, Backend - Lightning (Remote)

Accountabilities

• Design, build, and evolve cloud-based backend systems to support low-latency, high-volume services.
• Collaborate across multiple teams to brainstorm, design, and implement scalable solutions.
• Develop elegant, performant, and maintainable code primarily in Go, with some Python and other languages.
• Review code, provide technical guidance, and maintain engineering best practices including testing, logging, and resilient architecture.
• Take ownership of deliverables, leading by example, and actively contribute to improving team processes and quality standards.
• Assist in root cause analysis of production incidents and implement preventive improvements.
• Foster a collaborative, remote-friendly team environment with opportunities for mentorship and skill development.

• BS/MS in Computer Science or equivalent experience with data structures, algorithms, and distributed systems.
• 8+ years of experience building and scaling backend systems in production.
• Strong understanding of distributed systems, scalability challenges, and low-latency architectures.
• Proficiency in Go and experience with Python; familiarity with Kubernetes, Cassandra, Redis, Kafka, and Elastic Search a plus.
• Experience with cloud platforms such as AWS or Azure, particularly compute and storage services.
• Linux development and deployment experience.
• Strong collaboration, communication, and problem-solving skills.
• Bonus: experience with cloud-connected endpoint software, microservices architectures, containerization, cybersecurity, or intelligence systems.
