Senior Data Engineer

This role offers a unique opportunity to shape and lead the development of a cutting-edge digital health data platform. You will design and implement scalable, modular data solutions across cloud environments while ensuring robust data governance and compliance with industry privacy standards. As a key contributor to a small, agile team, you will collaborate closely with analytics, IT, and reporting teams, guiding architecture and operations for both batch and real-time data pipelines. This position provides the chance to influence technology strategy, optimize workflows, and unlock actionable insights that drive better healthcare outcomes. The role is remote and highly collaborative, requiring both strategic vision and hands-on technical expertise.

• Accountabilities
• Lead the design, development, and optimization of enterprise data platforms and pipelines across cloud platforms (Azure, AWS, GCP).
• Implement scalable, modular data solutions for batch and real-time processing.
• Ensure data governance, quality assurance, and compliance with HITRUST, HIPAA, GDPR, SOC-II, and other standards.
• Collaborate with IT, analytics, and reporting teams to align technology solutions with business objectives.
• Troubleshoot and resolve technical issues with data systems to minimize disruptions.
• Manage vendor relationships and advocate for the optimal tech stack and architecture.
• Contribute to the development and documentation of data engineering best practices and standards.

• Requirements
• 10+ years of experience in data management, engineering, and operations.
• 7+ years experience in ETL/ELT processes and real-time data streaming architecture.
• 5+ years architecting cloud-based data platforms (Azure Data Factory, Snowflake, Databricks, etc.).
• Strong experience with healthcare data, including medical/pharmacy claims, EDI transactions, and lab data.
• Expertise in Spark, Scala, Hive SQL, Kafka, and Apache NiFi.
• Familiarity with Azure analytics stack (Power BI, lakehouses, warehouses) and MDM tools (Informatica, Profisee, Reltio).
• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Healthcare Informatics, or a related field (Master’s preferred).
• Proficiency with Microsoft Fabric or similar modern data integration platforms.
• Excellent collaboration, communication, and problem-solving skills.
• Ability to lead technical initiatives in a small, mission-driven team environment.
