Principal Enterprise Software Engineer (Remote' - US)

We are seeking a Principal Enterprise Software Engineer to drive the design, development, and maintenance of software systems that manage and control robotic fleets. In this role, you will collaborate closely with software architects, system engineers, and robotics experts to create scalable, secure, and high-performance frameworks, APIs, and backend services. You will also mentor and guide a team of engineers, ensuring best practices, robust code delivery, and seamless integration across distributed systems. This position offers a high-impact opportunity to shape the technical direction of enterprise-level robotic software while working in a fast-paced, innovative environment.

Accountabilities:

• Design, implement, and maintain core frameworks, REST APIs, and backend logic for robot fleet management and configuration.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including system engineers, roboticists, and software architects, to define requirements and technical solutions.
• Develop and maintain data models, database structures, and integration processes.
• Coach and mentor software engineers, conducting code reviews and promoting best practices.
• Ensure interoperability and secure communication across distributed systems.
• Manage team tasking and project goals through agile tools such as Jira.
• Support software delivery through robust build, test, and deployment mechanisms (e.g., Docker, Kubernetes).
• Troubleshoot deployed systems and contribute to continuous improvement initiatives.

• 10+ years of experience designing and implementing software systems, including large-scale distributed systems.
• Proficiency in one or more object-oriented programming languages (Python, Java, C++, etc.).
• Experience developing REST APIs using frameworks such as FastAPI and implementing API authentication (OAuth).
• Strong experience in Python, SQL, and C++ development.
• Ability to work flexibly and adaptably in a fast-paced, startup-like environment.
• Preferred: experience with Unix/Linux, Rust, containerization (Docker, Kubernetes), React, software configuration management systems (Git, SVN), and communication protocols (HTTPS, MQTT, AMQP).
• Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science or a related field.
