This position is posted by Jobgether on behalf of a partner company. We are currently looking for a Network Virtualization Engineer IRES - SSFB in the United States.
This role is designed for an experienced network virtualization professional who thrives in complex and mission-critical environments. You will work on advanced VMware-based infrastructures, supporting network build-outs, deployments, and cybersecurity compliance for high-profile government projects. The position offers the opportunity to collaborate with multidisciplinary teams, perform root-cause analysis, and ensure system stability and optimization. Ideal candidates are proactive problem-solvers with strong communication skills, able to manage projects independently while mentoring team members. This role requires technical excellence, hands-on experience with virtualization, and adherence to rigorous security standards. Candidates must reside in a HUBZone or be willing to relocate prior to the start date.
· Support the Missile Defense Agency (MDA) on the IRES contract, deploying and managing VMware environments at the C2BMC Test Facility.
· Perform complex system administration tasks with minimal supervision, including monitoring, backups, upgrades, and vulnerability remediation.
· Conduct root-cause analysis for recurring or critical network issues and recommend solutions.
· Collaborate with system administrators, network engineers, and cybersecurity personnel to maintain a high-quality test environment.
· Document system changes and actions in appropriate systems of record for compliance and historical tracking.
· Advise stakeholders on system optimization and improvement efforts in line with program objectives.
· Deploy, configure, and maintain virtual machines and virtual distributed switches, including patching, upgrades, and migrations.
· Minimum 10 years of general IT work experience; 7+ years directly related to virtualization and network engineering.
· At least 1 year in a management or leadership role.
· Strong expertise in VMware vSphere, NSX, vSAN, and VMware Cloud Foundation, including traffic flow, NSX routing, firewalling, NAT, load balancing, and micro-segmentation.
· Proficiency in IP protocols, firewall configuration, VPN, Active Directory, and network troubleshooting.
· Experience with storage migration, virtual machine deployment, and patch management using SDDC Manager.
· DoD 8570 IAT Level II certification (Security+, CySA, or higher) and active DoD Secret Security Clearance required.
· Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including briefings and technical presentations using Microsoft PowerPoint and Visio.
· Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment and independently on large field projects.
· Must reside in a HUBZone or be willing to relocate prior to start date.
Desired Skills:
· Understanding of project management lifecycle and IT development processes (SELC, ITIL, SDLC).
· Experience with VXLAN, Juniper Apstra, VMware Aria, RHEL/Ansible, HPE servers, PIM, L2/L3 multicast, and type I encryption devices.
· VMware certifications such as VCTA, VCP-DCV, VCAP Design/Deploy, or VCDX-DCV.
· Cisco (CCNA) or Juniper (JNCIA) certifications.
· Programming or scripting experience in Python or PowerShell.
· Knowledge of DoD communications systems and Missile Defense operations.
