We are seeking a highly motivated Data Science Manager to lead the design and deployment of advanced AI and ML solutions that personalize member experiences at scale. This role offers the opportunity to manage a team of data scientists, collaborate closely with product and engineering teams, and build models that power both reactive and proactive recommendations. You will work with large-scale datasets, cloud computing platforms, and cutting-edge machine learning techniques to drive innovation. The position emphasizes customer experience, technical leadership, and fostering a collaborative, high-performing team in a fast-paced, digital-first environment.
· Lead the development and maintenance of personalization and recommendation models to enhance member experiences.
· Apply modern AI/ML methods such as collaborative filtering, ensemble models, embeddings, neural networks, and LLMs to optimize recommendations.
· Collaborate with product managers and engineers to integrate models into the platform, including model registration and ongoing performance measurement.
· Develop evaluation frameworks to monitor model performance, bias, and accuracy.
· Champion data-driven decision-making across teams and promote best practices for model lifecycle management.
· Mentor and develop a team of data scientists, providing technical guidance and fostering professional growth.
· Bachelor’s degree in a quantitative field (Statistics, Economics, Operations Research, Analytics, Mathematics, Computer Science, or related) with 6+ years of relevant experience; Master’s degree with 4+ years, or PhD with 1+ year experience also acceptable.
· Experience leveraging open-source programming languages (Python, SQL) for large-scale data analysis.
· Hands-on experience in machine learning, model lifecycle management, and ML operations (monitoring, feature stores, retraining, experimentation, A/B testing).
· Experience preparing and transforming large, complex datasets for modeling.
· Familiarity with recommendation systems and advanced personalization methods.
· Strong collaboration skills to work effectively with product and engineering teams.
· Excellent problem-solving, leadership, and communication skills.
· Preferred: PhD in STEM field, experience deploying models in production at scale, and demonstrated ability to influence technical strategy.
· Competitive salary range: $175,800 - $200,700 (Remote) or $193,400 - $220,700 (McLean, VA).
