The System Vice President of Strategic Sourcing will assist in establishing strategic goals for SSRM as well as those specific to the Sourcing Department. This position is responsible for development, monitoring, and driving to completion the strategic sourcing activities that create the maximum value for CSH within both SSRM and otherNational / Regional/ Operating units.
The System Vice President of Strategic Sourcing will be instrumental in developing and implementing strategic approaches for all categories under the SSRM umbrella in fulfillment of the requirements of our Sourcing and Contracting Calendar as well as work with stakeholders on new products. This must be done with a focus on anticipatory processes and timely value creation to assist CommonSpirit with achieving annual savings goals. This is in collaboration with the VP of Contracting and Vendor Management, VP of Implementation and Operations and VP GPO, Financial Insights and Analytics as well as the specific Category Directors that report to this position.
The System Vice President must be fully knowledgeable of the vendor landscape within each category as well as across categories, planning cycles, physician and clinician sensitivity areas, and operating with a requirement on how sourcing impacts all areas of SSRM including but not limited to Requests For Proposals, Negotiations, Clinical Engagement, Contracting, ERP requirements, front line Operations as well as outside of SSRM with Capital Planning. This role is responsible for Sourcing Calendar and the continuing improvement and expansion of items that will assist in increasing value across CSH.
ESSENTIAL KEY JOB RESPONSIBILITIES
1. Develops and Monitors Key Process Indicators to ensure CommonSpirit Health and Edgewise, our wholly owned Group Purchasing Organization, is on track with Sourcing Calendar and Value Generation. This includes ensuring the Calendar is accurate in terms of key initiatives, stakeholder engagement, and estimated value available to CommonSpirit Health. This is for an annual spend of approaching $4B.2. Monitors each Category Director’s progress on major initiatives to ensure timely completion and achievement of value goals. In addition engages each Category Director in discussion on sourcing opportunities and options on methods to obtain value3. Works closely with the Vice President of Contracting and Vendor Management concerning determination of strategy for each initiative to ensure maximum value with minimal time delays and collaborates in areas including but not limited to assisting with Requests for Information, Requests for Quote, Requests for Proposal and reviews of Requests for Proposal Responses as needed.4. Anticipates the need for conversions and is a conduit for engaging with the System VP of Implementation and Operations as well as the Regional VPs of Operations as well as impacted Regional and Market CMOs, CNOs, and Operators to ensure a smooth review of possible sourcing decisions and implementation of initiatives.5. Must collaborate with Clinical Leaders at various levels of the organization to remove bias on sourcing opportunities and/or decisions and understand their support or hesitancy with any vendor or product.6. Interfaces at the highest level of physician engagement with sourcing initiatives enhancing the relationship between SSRM and Clinical Partners and improving CSH value.7. Develops a high functioning and highly successful Sourcing Team capable of designing strategic approaches and management of assigned categories8. Must be able to work within budgetary constraints9. Maintains a knowledge base of key strategic approaches as well as latest industry changes in products to assist with developing and implementing innovative approaches to managing cost through the Sourcing function10. Communicates in a clear and concise manner that allows for information to flow upward in the organization and cascade to multiple levels within the entire CommonSpirit Organization.
Required Education and Experience:
Masters Degree in Related Field such as Masters in Business Administration, Masters in Supply Chain Management, or Masters in Healthcare Administration. A minimum of 10 years of progressive experience leading a large scale Sourcing Function or related Supply Chain area within a Group Purchasing Organization or Integrated Delivery Network with supply spend exceeding $2B per year.
Required Minimum Knowledge, Skills, Abilities, and Training:
Detailed knowledge of supply chain cycles of work and sourcing as well as the impact delays in process have on an organization’s operations.
Preferred Education and Experience:
Fifteen (15) plus years of progressive experience within the full scope of supply chain including sourcing, contracting, analytics, and implementation.
