Job Description

The Lead Cloud Architect will drive the organization's cloud strategy, architecture, and governance. This role ensures the alignment of cloud solutions with business objectives while optimizing cost, security, and efficiency. The ideal candidate will provide technical leadership in Azure adoption, design cloud-native architectures, and enhance operational best practices.

Primary Responsibilities

Cloud Strategy & Governance

  • Define and promote cloud direction and strategy in alignment with business goals.
  • Establish cloud policies, best practices, and governance models to ensure compliance and security.
  • Maintain and enhance the cloud service catalogue.
  • Support the Head of GTO in shaping the cloud roadmap.
  • Stay updated with emerging cloud technologies and industry trends to keep the organization at the forefront of innovation.

Cloud Architecture & Operations

  • Lead the design and implementation of scalable, reliable, and secure cloud solutions.
  • Manage new business requests requiring cloud design and architecture work.
  • Ensure alignment between business requirements (SLA, DRP, etc.) and infrastructure production teams.
  • Optimize cloud environments for cost-effectiveness, performance, and security.
  • Define and implement infrastructure improvements and new Azure services.
  • Oversee governance and adoption of cloud-native architectures, including landing zones and Azure subscriptions.
  • Own Infrastructure as Code (IaC) practices and guide the Accenture team on scripting repositories.
  • Ensure SGS Azure environment aligns with the SGS Cloud Service Catalogue and continuously introduce new services.

Collaboration & Knowledge Transfer

  • Act as the technical reference for service adoption and cloud direction.
  • Collaborate with Microsoft teams to onboard applications and implement new Azure services.
  • Transfer knowledge to the Operations team for new services introduction.

Technical Domain Leadership

The Lead Cloud Architect will specialize in at least one of the following cloud domains:

  • Reference Architectures
  • Service Catalogue
  • Landing Zones
  • Azure Kubernetes Service (AKS)
  • Application Publication
  • Databases & Storage
  • PaaS Services
  • Containers & Microservices
  • Validated Environments & Compliance
  • Quality Assurance (SOP)
  • Application Management
  • Technical Advisory

Qualifications

Education & Certifications

  • B.S. degree in Computer Science, IT, or a related field (or equivalent experience).
  • Cloud certifications (e.g., Azure Solutions Architect, Azure DevOps Engineer) are a plus.

Technical Experience

  • 5+ years of experience as a Cloud Architect, with strong expertise in Microsoft Azure.
  • Proven ability to translate business needs into scalable, secure, and high-performance cloud solutions.
  • Experience designing and deploying fault-tolerant, highly available applications on Azure.
  • Strong knowledge of cloud governance, security frameworks, and compliance.
  • Proficiency in scripting languages (PowerShell, Python, Bash) and Infrastructure as Code (Terraform, ARM, Bicep).
  • Hands-on experience with Azure networking, storage, compute, and identity management.
  • IT operational expertise, including patching, backup, and monitoring strategies.

Interpersonal & Leadership Skills

  • Autonomous and self-motivated, with the ability to engage stakeholders effectively.
  • Strong organizational and multitasking abilities.
  • Excellent problem-solving and critical-thinking skills.
  • Strong communication skills to convey complex ideas to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
  • Ability to work well under pressure and manage competing priorities.
  • Leadership experience, with the ability to guide teams and drive consensus.

Languages

  • Fluent in English (both written and spoken).
  • Additional languages are a plus.
