Software Engineer, Backend

We’re a startup at the intersection of video AI and social media, with experienced serial entrepreneurs, a world-class team, and solid financial backing. We’re looking for a Software Engineer, Backend to help architect and build the backend systems that power our next-gen generative AI products. From designing scalable APIs to managing infrastructure and data pipelines, your work will directly shape the foundation of our product and influence the experience of creators and users alike.

What You’ll Do:

• Design, implement, and maintain robust, scalable backend systems that support generative AI workflows and high-performance video applications.

• Build clean, efficient APIs and data services that integrate seamlessly with frontend and ML components.

• Collaborate closely with AI engineers, product designers, and founders to build and iterate rapidly.

• Develop infrastructure to handle large-scale data ingestion, processing, and storage.

• Ensure backend systems are secure, reliable, and optimized for performance.

• Play a key role in setting technical direction and engineering best practices at an early-stage startup.

• Debug, monitor, and optimize backend performance in a production environment.

What We’re Looking For:

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field.

• Proficiency in programming languages like Python, Java, Golang, or C++ with a focus on scalable solutions.

• Experience with backend frameworks (e.g., FastAPI, Flask, Django, Spring) and API design.

• Strong understanding of databases (SQL & NoSQL) and distributed systems.

• Familiarity with containerization such as Docker and cloud platforms such as AWS or GCP.

• Solid grounding in CS fundamentals — data structures, algorithms, systems design.

• Strong debugging and problem-solving skills, with the ability to work independently.

• Comfortable in a fast-paced startup environment with shifting priorities and big ambitions.

Compensation:

The expected salary range for this position is $165,000 - $400,000 per year, depending on experience and qualifications (ranging from junior hires such as new graduates to senior hires with 25+ years of experience). This position is eligible for additional benefits and incentives, including equity, health benefits, retirement plans, and others described above. We are committed to fair and transparent compensation practices.

While the range aligns with the posted job description, we're open to various experience levels. If the role evolves based on the candidate, we’ll adjust and communicate the salary range accordingly.
