STEM Lab Facilitator

Major Responsibilities:

• Experience in leading programming for students of various ages.
• Able to manage groups of students in an out-of-school environment.
• Approach to work is one that is supportive, nurturing, and inclusive for all.
• Flexible and able to adapt to changes in the work environment.
• Have access to reliable transportation to commute, to and from work to program locations, and for activities (such as meetings, classes, and workshops in and out of the immediate area.)
• An understanding of Ivy Tech’s mission and values.
• Ability to critically assess situations, solve problems, work effectively under stressful situations.
• Ability to understand and carry out varied instruction and procedures with minimal supervision.
• Ability to communicate effectively and exhibit excellent relationship building skills with all levels of employees, management, and students (families).
• Other duties as logically assigned.

Physical Requirements:

Role requires standing, walking, leaning, bending, sitting. Must be able to lift 45lbs.

Minimum Qualifications:

Education:

Associate’s degree from a regionally accredited institution, in education, business or stem-related experience in teaching, training or facilitation as documented by attainment of academic credential or through documented work experience;

Experience:

One (1) year of experience in higher education and/or one (1) year in a supervisory role

Computer Skills:

Microsoft Office Suite;

Certifications & Licenses:

Valid Driver’s License

Preferred Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s degree from a regionally accredited institution, in education, business or stem-related experience in teaching, training or facilitation as documented by attainment of academic credential or through documented work experience.
• Coursework or experience in a STEM field or education.
• Familiarity with STEM tools (e.g., robotics kits, coding apps, drones, basic lab equipment).
• Experience leading activities or working in informal learning environments.
• Ability to back up a 16ft trailer or the capability to learn.
