As a Software Engineer on the Lineage Platform team, you will develop scalable web applications that help users trace the origins and transformations of data across systems. Your work will be at the intersection of backend efficiency and intuitive frontend experiences. By contributing to both the backend and frontend of the platform, participating in system design, and bringing your ideas to the table, you’ll directly impact how global users interact with and gain trust in their data.

Responsibilities

  • Take ownership of your code by preparing for reviews and explaining your design decisions.
  • Recognize the users affected by your code by defining clear, testable user stories with measurable inputs and outputs.
  • Design, build, and optimize scalable, high-performance web applications.
  • Implement well-structured test cases to validate your work across positive and negative scenarios.
  • Engage in collaborative team discussions, bring forward ideas, and contribute to continuous improvement.
  • Deliver clean, maintainable code across both backend and frontend stacks.
  • 5+ years of experience building large, scalable web applications, or 3+ years combined with a relevant Master’s degree.
  • Strong backend development experience using Java and Spring.
  • Solid frontend development skills in JavaScript, TypeScript, and React.
  • Hands-on experience with relational databases, preferably PostgreSQL.
  • Familiarity with challenges in performance optimization, memory management, large data processing, network efficiency, concurrency, and security.
  • Basic knowledge of DevOps tools and practices, such as Docker, Kubernetes, CI/CD, and GitHub Actions, with a willingness to deepen expertise in these areas.
  • Comfortable working in agile, iterative development environments.
  • Committed to software craftsmanship - clean code, well-thought-out design, and technical excellence.
