Staff Software Engineer - Forward Deployed
Skills
- 8+ years building backend, data, or ML systems with production deployments
- Deep proficiency in Python and LLM/ML frameworks (Hugging Face, LangChain, OpenAI ecosystem)
- Experience with API-driven deployment (FastAPI), containerization (Docker), and Kubernetes
- Cloud deployment experience (GCP and/or AWS) and infrastructure trade-off decision-making
- Familiarity with orchestration, pub/sub systems (Kafka), and schema/governance practices
- Strong data operations knowledge: Delta/ETL pipelines, data contracts, quality enforcement, replay
- Proven client-facing communication skills and ability to lead technical conversations
Responsibilities
- Partner with delivery and executive stakeholders to scope and lead AI solution implementations
- Identify and convert ambiguous, messy workflows into repeatable, production-grade systems
- Design architecture and lead trade-off discussions across performance, cost, scalability, and reliability
- Own projects from discovery through deployment and post-launch iteration, including client-facing delivery
- Build shared infrastructure, reusable components, and internal playbooks to scale the team's impact
- Coach and mentor mid-level engineers and help define forward-deployed AI engineering practices
- Be on-call for customers and travel roughly 25–50% for on-site client engagements
Education
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Data Science, or related field OR equivalent professional experience
