Robotic Algorithms & Controls Engineers (Systems Analysts) at Intuitive perform a central role in the design, development, and support of new products in the daVinci Surgery product lines. Robotic Algorithms & Controls Engineers are primarily responsible for the development and overall performance of algorithms related to robotic manipulator motion, force control, and safety for new surgical robots, instruments, accessories, and endoscopes. This responsibility crosses into mechanical, software, control, user interface, electrical, and safety engineering. Robotic Algorithms & Controls Engineers strive to provide early design input, quickly prove out new designs, and seek out solutions to subtle and challenging problems in system integration, system safety, motion & force control, and manufacturing. Responsibilities continue until the products are shipping to customers with the highest quality and reliability.
The Manager of a Robotic Algorithms & Controls Engineering (Systems Analysis) team establishes responsibilities within their team. They are responsible for defining and meeting project milestones. They advise senior management on the technical strategy for product and platform projects. They work closely with other algorithms & controls, software, hardware, manufacturing, and clinical engineering teams to enable cohesion of design inputs, design architecture, specifications, and verification. They are expected to hire, coach, and retain Robotic Algorithms & Controls Engineering talent within their group.
