Middle School History Substitute (2nd semester)

Head-Royce School is seeking a part-time Middle School History Sub teacher for 2nd semester only, with expertise in teaching history.

The School seeks applicants who have experience in culturally responsive education and an understanding of how adolescents learn. Head-Royce teachers participate beyond the classroom as advisors and also as affinity group and club leaders.


Skills
  • Demonstrated knowledge and practice of culturally responsive teaching and learning.
  • Collaborative, flexible colleague with Middle School history teaching experience;
  • Clear communicator with students, colleagues, and parents;
  • Demonstrated knowledge of a child’s social/emotional development and developmentally appropriate curriculum;
  • Demonstrated understanding of and curiosity regarding curriculum design, varied pedagogical approaches as well as different styles and types of assessment.


Qualifications
  • Minimum Bachelor’s Degree in related field;
  • Understanding of and experience in applying best practices in anti-racist education;
  • 2-5 years teaching experience, and demonstrated desire to teach in the middle school.
  • Ability to participate in an outdoor education trip for 2-3 nights (additional stipend paid)
  • Ability to provide Background as well as TB clearance


Additional Qualifications
  • Advanced degrees/certification are desirable in History and/or education.


$75,000 - $125,000 a year
Salary prorated depending on percentage of full-time employment.   Sub will receive benefits.
