Hazel Health is seeking a Licensed Pediatric Mental Health Intake Therapist to provide virtual mental health assessments for K-12 students as a 1099 independent contractor.

Responsibilities: Conduct initial mental health intakes and assessments for K-12 students, provide ongoing virtual counseling, collaborate with the care management team, and maintain communication with stakeholders.

Skills: Proficient in mental health treatment strategies for children, excellent communication and collaborative skills, and strong technological proficiency for virtual therapy.

Qualifications: Candidates must be licensed as an LCSW-C, LMFT, or LCPC in Maryland for at least 3 years, with a strong commitment to equitable access to mental healthcare, and a willingness to obtain additional state licenses as required.

Location: Remote work available across several states including Maryland, with a preference for availability after 4 pm EST.

Compensation: $100 - $100 / Hourly

The Role: Licensed Pediatric Mental Health Intake Therapist (Virtual) - 1099 Independent Contractor (Maryland)

We are seeking licensed therapists who are passionate about delivering mental health support through virtual intakes and assessments for students (K-12). This role offers the flexibility of working as an independent contractor while supporting our mission of accessible mental health care.

Schedule: Monday-Friday after 4pm EST

Location: Remote

What You'll Do:

As a Pediatric Mental Health Intake Therapist (Virtual) working as an independent contractor, your primary responsibility will be conducting initial mental health intakes and assessments for K-12 students. 

• Conduct initial intakes and assessments with children in grades K-12 and their parent/guardian.  
• Collaborate with other Hazel Mental Health Therapists to ensure children successfully transition into our services.
• May provide ongoing virtual counseling and solution-focused therapeutic interventions for children in grades K-12, as needed.
• Provide culturally relevant and age-appropriate counseling and treatment.
• Collaborate with Hazel’s care management team to identify and support transition services.
• Maintain relationships and engage with school personnel, family members, and stakeholders.
• Obtain necessary state- or district-required credentialing, as requested by Hazel’s credentialing department.

Minimum Requirements:

• Mission-Alignment: You are inspired by providing equitable access to mental health care to students  
• Required: Licensed without restrictions as a Licensed Licensed Certified Social Worker - Clinical (LCSW-C), Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist (LMFT),or Licensed Clinical Professional Counselor (LCPC)
• Required: Licensed in MD for a minimum of 3 years
• Required: Additional license in AL, CA, CO, FL, GA, HI, IA, KY, MA, MO, NV, TX, VA, or WA; or be eligible and able to begin a state license application process immediately upon signing your contract agreement
• Willingness/ability to be enrolled by Hazel with insurance companies, including Medicaid and private payers.
• Possess a working knowledge of treatment strategies and interventions related to the mental health needs of children and their families. 
• Demonstrates an ability to make accurate and timely clinical judgments or recommendations. 
• Works in collaboration with other clinical team members across Hazel Health to meet the needs of children and families. 
• Demonstrates experience and education in all areas of clinical practice. 
• Highly proficient in computer and technology skills, including: the ability to use a laptop, quickly learn Hazel’s clinical platform, navigate Google and Slack software applications, learn new software and programs and complete digital paperwork.

What you'll be responsible for:

• Flexible Availability 
• You are expected to maintain a schedule that accommodates student needs, which may include availability during school hours or after-school hours, depending on district requirements.
• Current need is therapists that are available Monday-Friday after 4pm EST
• Minimum Weekly HoursWhile you have control over your schedule, there will be a minimum weekly time commitment based on caseload requirements, to be discussed during the onboarding process.
• Caseload ManagementYou are responsible for managing your own caseload, ensuring timely intakes, assessments, and follow-up sessions as needed. 
• CommunicationYou must be responsive to communication from school personnel, families, and our care management team, and participate in occasional virtual meetings or trainings.
• TrainingParticipate in 15 hours of self-guided paid training during initial onboarding and ongoing as needed to access internal systems and platforms.
• CredentialingHazel will credential you with insurance payors, the time spent is reimbursable time.
• Equipment: Computer (additional monitor encouraged) either desktop or laptop, that has a webcam and microphone
• Stable home internet connection with at least 20 mbps connection
• Malpractice InsuranceMalpractice coverage must be acquired, providing a minimum of $1 million per claim and $3 million in aggregate coverage.
• HIPAA Compliant WorkspaceYou must be able to complete the functions of your job in a private, unshared and secure workspace.
• Hardware & InternetVideo Ready: Computer must have a working webcam, microphone, and speakers or headset.
• Performance: Computers must handle the operating system, video conferencing, and required software smoothly, without lag.
• Internet: Must have a stable, high-speed connection that meets the minimum bandwidth required by Hazel Health’s telehealth platform.
• Operating SystemUp-to-Date OS: Computer must run a currently supported version of its operating system (e.g., Microsoft Windows, Apple macOS).
• Install Google Chrome: To ensure you meet Okta requirements.

Total compensation for this role is market competitive - $100 per session hour, $30 per no show, $40 per hour for onboarding. Please Note: As a 1099 independent contractor, you will not receive benefits such as health insurance, paid time off, or access to Hazel’s retirement savings contributions. You are responsible for managing your own taxes, securing your own equipment, insurance, and other work-related equipment and expenses.
