Why join Harvard Medical School?

Harvard Medical School's mission is to nurture a diverse, inclusive community dedicated to alleviating suffering and improving health and well-being for all through excellence in teaching and learning, discovery and scholarship, and service and leadership.

You’ll be at the heart of biomedical discovery, education, and innovation, working alongside world-renowned faculty and a community dedicated to improving human health. This is more than a job - it’s an opportunity to shape the future of medicine.

About the Department:

The Harvard MIT Division of Health Sciences and Technology (HST) is one of the world’s leading

Job Description

We are seeking an accomplished physician scientist and academic leader to serve as HMS Co Director of HST. In this highly visible role, you will partner with the MIT Co Director to guide the strategic and day to day direction of a unique joint program that trains the next generation of physician scientists, physician engineers and innovators.

This position offers the opportunity to shape the future of medical education at the intersection
of science, engineering, and medicine, while mentoring and inspiring some of the most talented

HST to external partners and stakeholders in ways that strengthen and expand its impact.

It is well suited for someone who wants to influence the future of health and biomedical innovation while continuing to advance their own academic contributions.

This is a parttime (17.5 hours/week), benefits eligible leadership role based at Harvard Medical

  • Mentor HST MD students and assess student performance, behavior, and professionalism.
  • Collaborate with the MIT Co Director to manage faculty recruitment, program
    administration, and staff supervision.
  • Serve as Advisory Dean of the Irving London Society, fostering community and
    supporting student well-being.
  • Contribute to fundraising, budget development, and long-term strategic planning.
  • Represent HST at HMS, MIT, and University wide committees and leadership meetings.
  • Teach on an ad hoc basis within HST courses at HMS and MIT.
