Staff Industrial Designer (Bay Area)
What You’ll Do
Own the industrial design of general-purpose robots from concept to production
Create a design language that conveys trust, capability, and identity at human scale
Lead ergonomics and interaction design so humans feel safe and intuitive with robots
Work side-by-side with mechanical engineers to turn concepts into manufacturable, durable designs
Rapidly prototype across sketches, CAD, mockups, and full-scale models
Partner with manufacturing and suppliers to bring designs into volume production
What You’ll Bring
Proven track record shipping breakthrough products in robotics, automotive, or advanced hardware
Portfolio showing mastery of form, ergonomics, CMF, and design storytelling
Fluency moving between concept sketching, CAD engineering, and visualization tools
Ability to reconcile aesthetics, function, and tight engineering tolerances under real-world constraints
Crisp, direct communication across design, engineering, and leadership
Drive to shape how humans will first experience general-purpose robots
Bonus: experience designing human-scale, safety-critical systems (humanoids, vehicles, etc.)
