JOB DESCRIPTION

The Business Apps and Data Platforms team is seeking an experienced Manager, Data Operations to lead and coordinate our data operations activities. The ideal candidate will oversee day-to-day deliverables, partner closely with business and technical stakeholders, and help enable efficient, high-quality data delivery through collaboration, process improvement, and innovation.
This role combines hands-on technical work with leadership responsibilities, managing a small team of data engineers while working across multiple data platforms and operational tools. The team is located in LA , NYC and Bangalore.

A SNAPSHOT OF YOUR RESPONSIBILITIES

Operational Excellence & Process Improvement

• Oversee day-to-day production health, ensuring proactive monitoring and timely issue resolution.

• Identify process bottlenecks within data operations and propose improvements to increase efficiency and reliability.

• Contribute to efforts that reduce technical debt and enhance long-term system performance.

• Communicate operational updates, findings, and improvements through clear documentation and team presentations.

Governance & Standards

• Work with data governance and observability tools such as Atlan and Monte Carlo to enhance data reliability, lineage tracking, and compliance.

• Follow and help enforce best practices in data operations to ensure scalability, security, and consistency.

• Support initiatives that align with organizational goals and evolving business needs.

• Model accountability, engagement, and collaboration across both in-person and virtual environments.

Technology & Tools Expertise

Bring hands-on experience and familiarity with modern data platforms and operational tools, including:

• Data Platforms & Engineering: Databricks, Snowflake, dbt (data build tool), Astronomer (Airflow orchestration)

• Service & Workflow Management: ServiceNow or equivalent ITSM platforms

• Release & Change Management: CI/CD frameworks and production change management processes

• Data Quality & Performance: Data testing, observability, and system performance optimization

Team Leadership & Delivery Management

• Manage and mentor a team of data engineers, ensuring high-quality deliverables and timely execution.

• Provide day-to-day guidance and support to team members to promote learning and growth.

• Help plan workloads and delegate tasks effectively within assigned workstreams.

• Support leadership in hiring, onboarding, and developing team members.

Stakeholder Partnership & Collaboration

• Collaborate with business stakeholders to understand needs, identify opportunities, and deliver data-driven solutions.

• Communicate risks, dependencies, and challenges proactively to leadership and partners.

• Build cross-functional relationships to foster collaboration and operational efficiency.

• Participate in regular in-person and virtual meetings to strengthen engagement with stakeholders.

WHAT YOU WILL NEED

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Data Management, Engineering, or related field; Master’s degree preferred.

• 7+ years of experience in data operations, data engineering, or software delivery, including 2+ years in a leadership or supervisory role.

• Proven experience managing day-to-day data operations or delivery teams.

• Strong understanding of data platforms, pipelines, and observability best practices.

• Ability to communicate complex technical concepts clearly to both technical and non-technical audiences.

• Skilled in process improvement, issue resolution, and cross-team coordination.

Pursuant to state and local pay disclosure requirements, the pay rate/range for this role, with final offer amount dependent on education, skills, experience, and location is $128,000.00-179,000.00 annually. This role is also eligible for an annual discretionary bonus, various benefits, including medical/dental/vision, insurance, a 401(k) plan, paid time off, and other benefits in accordance with applicable plan documents. Benefits for Union represented employees will be in accordance with the applicable collective bargaining agreement.
