Designs and develops web environments on Amazon Web Services (AWS), using S3, API Gateway, and Lambda to enhance application performance. Applies Infrastructure-as-Code (IaC) principles using AWS CloudFormation or Terraform, while implementing DevOps practices for Continuous Integration and Continuous Deployment (CI/CD) processes. Promotes standard methodologies in coding, secure application development, and test coverage. Ensures cross-browser compatibility and addresses asynchronous requests handling through Asynchronous JavaScript and XML (AJAX), while utilizing monitoring solutions such as CloudWatch to maintain application health. Develops complex or multiple software applications and conducts studies of alternatives. Analyzes and recommends changes in project development policies, procedures, standards, and strategies to development experts and management.
Primary Responsibilities:
Participates in architecture design teams.
Defines and implements application-level architecture.
Develops applications on complex projects, components, and subsystems for the division.
Recommends development testing tools and methodologies and reviews and validates test plans.
Responsible for QA readiness of software deliverables.
Develops comprehensive documentation for multiple applications or subsystems.
Establishes full project life cycle plans for complex projects across multiple platforms.
Advises on risk assessment and risk management strategies for projects.
Plans and coordinates project schedules and assignments for multiple projects.
Acts as a primary liaison to resolve various project/technology issues.
Provides technology solutions to daily issues and technical evaluation estimates on technology initiatives.
Advises senior management on technical strategy.
Mentors junior team members.
Performs independent and complex technical and functional analysis for multiple projects supporting several divisional initiatives.
Develops original and creative technical solutions to on-going development efforts.
Education and Experience:
Bachelor’s degree (or foreign education equivalent) in Computer Science, Engineering, Information Technology, Information Systems, Mathematics, Physics, or a closely related field and five (5) years of experience as a Principal Software Engineer/Developer (or closely related occupation) implementing and supporting modern application development using cloud technologies and services (AWS, Azure or GCP).
Or, alternatively, Master’s degree (or foreign education equivalent) in Computer Science, Engineering, Information Technology, Information Systems, Mathematics, Physics, or a closely related field and three (3) years of experience as a Principal Software Engineer/Developer (or closely related occupation) implementing and supporting modern application development using cloud technologies and services (AWS, Azure or GCP).
Skills and Knowledge:
Candidate must also possess:
Demonstrated Expertise (“DE”) supporting the full Application Development Life Cycle (ADLC) -- analyzing, designing, developing, testing, and deploying modern applications -- using Java, JavaScript, Nodejs, Angular, CSS3, HTML5, and AWS.
DE performing functional development and integration of Java, J2EE, and Node.js applications according to Test Driven and Behavioral Driven Development (TDD and BDD) methodologies, using Jest, Jasmine, or Mocha; and developing and testing front-end applications and Rest APIs using Integrated Development Environments (IDE) leveraging enterprise cloud infrastructure (AWS, Azure or GCP).
DE writing AngularJS controllers, views, and services using Visual Studio for website features; developing front-end websites using Bootstrap; and performing unit testing and creating test suites, using Jasmine and Karma.
DE designing and implementing pipelines that support Continuous Integration/Continuous Delivery (CI/CD) by establishing processes or practices that support day to day work and deployment in an Agile Project Model (using Jenkins or GitHub).
