Staff Software Engineer, Risk & Pricing
Skills
- Deep Java and JVM performance expertise (tuning, GC, memory)
- Experience with Spring (Core/Web/Boot), Gradle, and testing frameworks (JUnit)
- Designing service-oriented architectures, REST APIs, and message-driven systems
- Hands-on AWS experience (EKS, Aurora RDS, DynamoDB, ElastiCache) and containerized workloads
- Experience building pricing engines or pricing platforms
- Strong background in risk engineering: credit risk, fraud detection, or decision platform architecture
- Observability and reliability best practices
Responsibilities
- Lead architecture and evolution of risk decisioning platforms supporting credit eligibility, fraud prevention, and controlled product access.
- Design and build a pricing engine from the ground up integrating with risk decisions and supporting customer- and product-level pricing.
- Own and operate high-scale, 24/7 APIs and distributed systems powering risk and pricing decisions.
- Provide technical leadership, establish long-term platform vision, and drive engineering best practices.
- Balance hands-on implementation with architectural oversight to ensure delivery velocity and maintainability.
- Partner with Risk, Product, Data Science, and Finance to translate business strategies into auditable, scalable systems.
- Identify systemic reliability, scalability, and risk gaps and lead initiatives to remediate them.
- Mentor engineers, lead design reviews, and raise engineering standards across teams.
Education
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field or equivalent experience
- Advanced degree (MS/PhD) in a relevant field is a plus but not required
