Federal Work-Study (FWS) students assigned to Community Service positions will report to the designated representative at their assigned organization. These assigned positions address local needs and support underserved populations through partnerships with nonprofit, governmental, and community-based organizations.
Community Service positions are intended to improve the quality of life for community residents—particularly those who are low-income—or to help address specific challenges within the community. Depending on their placement, Community Service FWS students may be involved in activities such as:
Providing support in health care, wellness, or services for individuals with disabilities
Assisting with child care, early education programs, or literacy initiatives
Supporting efforts in welfare services, transportation, or outreach to underserved groups
Participating in housing, neighborhood revitalization, or rural development projects
Contributing to public safety, crime prevention, or emergency preparedness efforts
Engaging in recreational programs, youth development, or other community improvement activities
I understand that as a FWS student I must:
Maintain Satisfactory Academic Progress (minimum 2.0 GPA) and at least 80% attendance. Individual departments may set a higher standard. The requirements for this agreement are:

Ensure that my FWS work does not interfere with class attendance. I may not work on days that I am unable to attend scheduled classes or at times when I am scheduled to be in class.
Track my time accurately, and sign/submit my timecard to my supervisor each pay period.
Be attending at least half-time or actively enrolled for the next term.
