Design Systems Director
Skills
- Proven leadership in building and scaling design systems across products and platforms.
- Deep knowledge of component libraries, design tokens, interaction/motion design, and cross-platform consistency.
- Strong cross-disciplinary understanding of both design and front-end engineering needs.
- Excellent stakeholder management and ability to align design system work with product strategy.
- Experience with modern design tooling and prototyping workflows that support engineering delivery.
Responsibilities
- Lead and mentor a multidisciplinary design systems team to deliver consistent, high-quality UI, motion, and interaction patterns.
- Define and evolve Marmalade’s principles, guidelines, and component libraries for web, mobile, and emerging platforms.
- Align the design system roadmap with product and engineering roadmaps to ensure cohesive brand and product experiences.
- Partner with product designers, engineers, and brand teams to integrate design system components into product interfaces.
- Advocate for design system priorities and influence product direction to improve usability, scalability, and brand consistency.
- Drive technical and creative standards across typography, color, motion, and interaction design.
- Introduce tooling and processes that enable engineering flexibility, composability, and efficient adoption of components.
- Stay current on design and prototyping technologies and drive innovations that improve system adaptability.
Education
- Bachelor’s degree in Design, HCI, Computer Science, or related field, or equivalent practical experience.
- Ongoing professional development in design systems, UI/UX, or related technical disciplines preferred.
